Extremely low Vit D after using Saw Palmetto

Hi Everyone

I used saw palmetto about six years ago and since then have been suffering very badly. I have
constant fatigue
constant nausea
low appetite
shallow none refreshing sleep
joint pain, muscle pain, muscle loss
vision problem
digestion issues
very cold body
racing heart
Erectile dysfunction(and complete impotence)
list goes on and on.


I have done a lot of blood tests and the only things come low are my total and free testosterone and vitamin D. I take 8000 IU daily and feel little bit better. Without vitamin D I cannot live more than two days,I would die simply. I have tried TRT but no help.Is my liver is not working? or my vitamin D receptors (VDR) have been destroyed by Saw palmetto or my adrenal glands are burnt? Any idea/thought/theory welcome.

I ask because my husband has been doing Saw Palmetto since he was 45 because of the prostrate cancer thing.

So for 10 years plus he has been doing it and absolutely no adverse effects.

Does your doctor think that the Saw Palmetto caused this? I find it unusual. But, I'm not that educated in that herb. I will ask my husband who has studied it extensively.

can u give us some numbers? what do u mean low vit D and what exact name does your vitamin D test has?

Yes I am a male.
No, no lyme test, I don't think I have lyme. I have never been around animals plus I am a city guy don't go in the bushes.
I am not alone to have side effects from Saw palmetto. I have found many people from different parts of the world who have got side effects from SP just like my. If you go on hairloss forums I am sure you will find few guys complaining of sides from SP. Before or after SP I did not take any other meds.
My blood tests showed (I did this test many months after supplementing vit D3) 50 while the lower limit was 75. I don't remeber the units but clearly you see it was low. Also Vit D3 gave me the strength to go and see the doctor otherwise I was rotting in the bed. Without VitD3 I start getting swelling in body especially my feet and hands hurt very badly. I cannot walk or hold anything.
My calcium level are fine with in normal range.
