First off, welcome and so sorry you are feeling so ill. My lyme test from Quest was negative and then I had a lyme test from IgeneX and I was positive.
Glad you have read the New to Lyme thread. The second post in that thread has a bad link for IgeneX. It should be this link --
www.igenex.com/I have conflicting reports on band 23.
One site says 23 is lyme specific - Horowitz. But I believe that many lump bands 23-25. And another place (
www.reocities.com/HotSprings/Oasis/6455/western-blot.txt) says that 25 is lyme specific. We have all discussed this extensively on this forum and the end conclusion is this:
Symptoms speak louder than bands!!! If you have lyme symptoms, you probably have lyme. No rash is required, no tick is required - so why should a specific band on a test be required?
If you get an IgeneX test for lyme the bottom of the page says this --
Diagnosis should not be based on laboratory tests alone. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical symptoms and patient history. Even the testing labs concur that lyme is a clinical diagnosis (based on symptoms and not necessarily tests).
Lyme can make you have brain fog. That's what we call it. It is scary, to say the least. I would start to say a sentence and get half way and forget totally what I was talking about
. I would drive right past my intended stop. It was frightening.
Treatment and you get all your faculties back. No permanent brain damage, so don't worry.
I hope you now find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD). This is what you want to help you, or an herbalist that is train in lyme disease or a naturopath or functional medicine doctor. A good doctor train and experienced in lyme, preferably ILADS trained.
If you need help finding a doc, let us know with a new post that says -- Need doctor in ______ (name your state).
Again, welcome and so sorry you suspect lyme.
