Retesting Lyme while on treatment.

My Lyme doctor wants to retest me in a few weeks to see where to go from there. I've only been on treatment for 2 months. She said that it's likely that more bands will light up while on treatment. When I originally tested band 41 was the only one I had. Igg variable major p, Igg B. Sensu stricto, and igg outer surface was abnormal. I just want to know if anyone has retested and more bands popped up????

Yes. Went from zero to 2 lyme specific bands and then 2 lyme specific bands again but one was different band.

What is the purpose of re-testing?

So what if there are more bands.

What if there is no change? Find out these answers before you pay the expense of another test.

At the bottom of the Igenex test is says:

Diagnosis should not be based on laboratory tests alone. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical symptoms and patient history.

Actually it's not all that uncommon to retest. It's much easier to get insurance to pay for pricey prescribtions if the test come back CDC positive. Also much more likely to get insurance to pay for picc line and other items. It's not needed for an LLMD to treat but it does come in handy.

there is no test right now to say that u r cured so there is no point im retesting except to mitigate your fears for misdiagnosis. the diagnosis is a clinical one, besides tests it has to do with symptoms and tick bite and tests and where u live and what places u visited, all have to be taken .

if u retest take one month break from abx, thats what every lab told me, i think it has to do with abx being a bit immunosuppressive themselves...

the only test that can say u r negative is live blood analysis but a specialized dr has to stare at your blood for half an hour and find the critters.... very hard to reproduce. what if she needs to go to the restroom? will zoom through your blood and declare u healthy earlier and may be miss a critter...

What Jrpsf said ^ I want to do it to became CDC positive so no one can tell me that I don't have something that I do. The doctor wants to test me for her own reasons. I guess to confirm it as well. She believes I have Lyme because my cd47 was 40. And I have small fiber damage that wasn't there before. Plus my test which wasn't cdc positive but very suspicious for Lyme. I don't think she will stop treating me even if testing comes back negative. But it is always good to have proof.

Its so they can cover their asses for treating you ,they need a positive test.they might say its indicative of immune health but i dont think so ..imo
