Erythromycin prescibed by GP but not part of lyme protocol? Please help!

I took a 3 week break from my lyme protocol antibiotics due to needing a break as was having a horrendous time.

Lyme protocol was Azithromycin, doxycyline and rifampicin although only took rifampicin for couple weeks. At the end of 3 week break i developed a cyst type thing high up my nose under the skin. Its slightly swollen and not far from eye so my gp said I needed erythromycin to make sure it goes away since its close to eye and since i hadnt been on lyme antibiotics for 3 weeks he thought i should be ok to take erythromycin. As always I cant get hold of my lyme doc to discuss as he takes so long to reply. I started the erythromycin last night and wow I am feeling really bad. Body is burning, fatigue etc

250mg erythromycin x 4 a day.

I know eythromycin isnt normally part of lyme and coinfections protocol but my questions are:

Could this be a herx?

and

I am concerned about 250mg x 4 a day? If it is killing off coinfections isnt this dose too much? Its a weeks course

Any help is appreciated

Taking Eythromycin alone for a week should not be an issue. As a teenager I took topical Eythro along with tetracycling for cystic acne. Its not commonly used for Lyme because Zith and Clarithromycin are much more effective. I cannot comment on the dosage, since it does vary widely with ABX in the same family.

Eythro could certainly be causing a herx, especially since you were having difficulty with Zith, Doxy, and Rif combo. Have you tried taking Alka-Selza Gold?

Very possibly a herx. Especially if you jump right in with 250mg 4x a day.

I agree with tickbite on the Alka Seltzer Gold but if you don't have that on hand maybe drink more water, try some dry brushing and can you do a epsom salt bath?

I live in Scotland and struggle to get alka seltzer gold! Sometimes amazon has them but not just now.

I will try detox more since the dose is high.

This is some battle thats for sure!!!

For a dosage example....

for Doxy I did 200 mg twice a day.
for Mino it was 100 mg twice a day.
for tetra it was 750 mg twice a day.

I have seen erythromycin dosage to be 250 to 500 mg every 6 hours (so 4X daily)

I assume I can still take my herbs and supplements with erythromycin?

Clearly herx on this antibiotics as I feel horrendous

I was taking a low dose for SIBO, 125mg/day and I had the worst herxing I've ever had, I went to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack! I've also read that it's super effective against Bartonella (no source though sorry).

Anyone know if I can tak doxycycline and erythromycin. I've been off lyme antibiotics for month now and symptoms are pretty severe. I'm. In only only this weeks course of erythromycin for nose lump thing. Only on day two of erythromycin

Tetracycline (doxy) plus macrolide (erythromycin) - common antibiotic duo for lyme.

I don't see any issues with the combination.

Feeling bad on an antibiotic is not always herx--some abx just make some people feel awful!

Coming to end if erythromycin. I'm assuming it's ok to start my azitromycin and minocycline t next day even though I imagine erythromycin still in my system?
