Can Lyme Lie Dormant And/Or Cause Minor Symptoms

I have not felt well for years (about 15 years to be exact). However, 3 years ago, the symptoms became so bad that I could not ignore them anymore. This happened shortly after we adopted our son. Although it was the greatest time, we literally became parents overnight and I still feel like my head is spinning. =) Before this, I would say the symptoms were minor but there.

Can Lyme lie dormant or only cause minor symptoms for years and then go full blown after a big life event? I tried to make excuses for why I felt bad (I have seasonal allergies, I don't exercise enough, I am new mom, etc...). Now I am realizing that I haven't felt myself for much longer than the 3 years since the symptoms became hard to ignore and am wondering if there is a reason for that.

Absolutely. Stress of any kind can help lyme come out to play.

I'm so very sorry. But boy do you have a fortunate son in that you picked him.

Thank you, PeteZa! It's all starting to make more and more sense now. Lyme is like a giant puzzle and now I finally have all the pieces (or at least more than I had before).

It is not a fun or quick curing disease. It is annoying, frustrating and complicated with so many symptoms.

Thank you all for the replies! I was just introduced to the world of Lyme in June because my family physician had the sense to test me for Lyme. Not one doctor suggested Lyme in all the years I've been searching for answers. Living in Texas, I thought it would be a long shot that I actually had it. When my test came back positive for 2 bands (41 & 23), I was shocked. Although I definitely do not want to have Lyme, I am happy to be on my way to finding answers.

41 is not lyme specific, it means u have some spirochetes, can be dental spirochetes for example... they are not as bad as lyme and many people have them and are harmless.

23 however is lyme specific, for IgM.

"We have found that sera from patients with early stages of Lyme disease contain predominant immunoglobulin M reactivity to a major 23-kDa protein (p23) from Borrelia burgdorferi 2591 isolated in Connecticut."

Is this IgM testing we are talking about ? Besides allergies, u have any other symptoms ?

Yes because of early child parenting, u get more tired and your immune system starts to work bad, this is exactly when i started having my worst symptoms. poor sleep, continuous stress, gives fuel to these critters.

If the 23 and 41 are IgM that is Igenex and CDC positive

If it's IgG - it's Igenex positive.

mpost- I had the Western blot test by Quest done. 41 IGG and 23 IGM were positive. My symptoms include (this is a short list because there are so many): stiff neck, vertigo, extreme fatigue, extreme joint pain, back pain, headaches, muscle weakness, hormone imbalance, sore throat, brain fog, ringing in ears. What led me to the doctor most recently is weird pain/numbness/bruising in my left arm that 6 doctors have not been able to explain.

the list of symptoms plus those bands look VERY CONVINCING to me smile
