IGENEX

Hey guys! So i saw a lyme friendly doctor/functional doctor last week and he thinks i'm very low risk for lyme and that other conditions could cause my symptoms... so he is making me pass a bunch of tests... he reviewed my IGENEX and dosen't think its indicative of lyme but i can't shake the results... 39 IND, 41+ and 58+. Can anyone reassure me/help? Thanks!

The thing is, I had bariatric surgery 4 years ago and lost 130 lbs… which has a huge impact on a body and could explain some symptoms. And i have a long history of anxiety.

It all started 1 year ago when i was in my last year of law school. I started getting confused/disoriented. Memory loss, trouble saying what I wanted to say. Trouble concentrating. I started to suspect I had a neurological disorder, so i went for blood tests, 2 MRI, a eeg and a neurological assessment (neuropsy test by a professional). ALL came back normal. I was referred to an endocrinologist and a pneumologist because they tought i maybe had sleep apnea. It was inconclusive (I even slept with a CPAP for 8 months without any changes in my sleep quality). Pneumologist tested for lyme but it was negative.

Then, last summer, with all of this going on, i had to stop working at a big law firm, because i was too tired and confused/disoriented (i starting getting lost in the office…) I felt like i had alzheimer…at 25.

Fast forward one year, I just passed the bar. It was super hard with all my symptoms, but still did it. And now i started working again and I feel like my symptoms are worse/coming back.

My symptoms are:
Havent had my period for 100 days now (didn’t have my period for 1 year) - maybe due to stress/weight loss.
Extreme confusion/disorientation
fatigue/lethargy.
Chills
Weird tremors (like an earthquake)
Muscle weakness, weird muscle feeling, they feel ‘’heavy’’ and contracted.
no energy
wake up tired and it’s really hard to get out of bed.
unable to concentrate.
Poor blood circulation / tingling feeling in lower extremities.
Hypoglycemia
I sometimes wake up and my face is puffy / puffy eyelids.
trouble spelling, change in vocabulary etc. EX: i want to say table, i say chair.

Now i have a sore throat/tonsils hurt + neck... but could only be a cold.

Horowitz test: 56.

I also think I my have hypothyroidism, because the symptoms seem to be the same.

I just feel like something is wrong, but unsure if its ‘’just’’ anxiety creating all of this.

I dont have an actual part of my body that ‘’hurts’’, no joint pain etc. I just have a hard time explaining my symptoms. And no doctor can help (and i can understand because of my anxiety and all the tests that came back negative). My doctors are actually amazing, but there is so much they can do. My psychiatrist says it’s hypochondria and it might just be. But there is a little voice in my head saying that its not normal to be so tired and have so many ‘’neurological’’ issues at my age.

I never had any tick or rash. Never actually been in a forest or anywhere that has ticks. The only thing i can think of is I passed 6 months in Europe while studying and maybe while I was travelling, I could have been to a place where ticks are present. But then again, unsure.

Many of your symptoms suggest Lyme. Be careful. You do not want this to go untreated if it is Lyme and co.


Is there any possibility you can see an Lyme literate Md to make sure.

most people that get Lyme and co dont remember being bitten. In the nymph stage ticks are very tiny.

You dont have to go in the woods or a field/brush to get exposure to ticks. They can be anywhere. This is due to many factors one being migratory birds can carry them and redistribute, rodents are everywhere, etc.

I thought band 58 was indicative of a europeon strain of Lyme. you should check that out and 41 can be Lyme.

It really makes me wonder does any one REALLY know? This reference says yes 39 is, other say it's maybe specific. And then this reference doesn't call out band 23 as being specific but other references do.

Lyme. The disease with zero consensus haha.

Start taking some herbs and see what happens, what do you have to lose?

If you suspect lyme or any ill health and your doctor is not sure then take things into your own hands like many of us here have had to do.

If the jury is still out on whether you do indeed have lyme or not don't sit around spinning your wheels pondering this. Start today to improve your diet, detox, and physically strengthen yourself.

Take disability or leave for a few months and do herbs and abx, is what I would do if your big firm's ins. has a generous policy without career repercussions.

Buhner's protocol is good if not excellent. You have all the symptoms. 31 is very specific, 58 I am told is a European strain (I have IND and + or more on both) IgG I think. 41 could be reactivated HSV1 and/or Cytomegalovirus which most people have but shouldn't be symptomatic but is for me, I have both, and both flare up.

And btw...testing is faulty at best atm. There are numerous pathogens that won't be picked up most standard testing, leaving you sick and undiagnosed (which is why so many people are pissed about it.) All the co-infections attendant to Lyme can actually be worse ie. babesia, bartonella, erlichia, other strains of borrelia not sequenced on a large scale yet...etc

And you know yourself better than anyone. Like I woke up today (still mostly untreated for chronic lyme) and literally my first thought upon waking up (with my BPAP machine showing 8 hours of artificial breathing assistance) , "It feels like my entire body is infected." Which means it probably is.
