I have had food sensitivities and food allergies develop as well due to these infections.
I'm very highly allergic to soy of any kind (soy oil, soy lecithin, soy protein and any other forms). Last time I got a hold of a bit of soy oil (went out to eat!), I had every symptom of a food allergy - brain fog, muscle spasms, joint swelling/pain, itchy skin with spotty hives, complete GI dysruption (I sat in the bathroom for a few hours, with it from both ends - TMI!!! Sorry!).
I'm very sensitive to MSG as well - and that little bugger goes by about
15 different names in foods, so it's hard to avoid as well. Fortunately, I get some GI upset, but not like I get with soy, and so far no other symptoms - but there's no doubt when I get a hold of some.
For me, I need grains in my diet - not much, but some - or I feel completely off. I have eliminated grains from my diet completely for as long as 6 months - but discovered that if I eat healthy, mostly alternative or organic grains at least 4 times a week, I feel pretty decent as far as that goes.
Our brains and our guts are both so very highly individual in their exact make up of chemicals/bacteria, that no two diets and other GI 'remedies' will be the exact same, and no two treatments for help with sleep/brain fog/other brain issues will be the same either. Makes it quite the challenge, but by talking to enough people and doing some trial and error can get a person to a point where things are manageable lots of times.
Oops, I forgot - dairy, sugar and caffeine!! I have been avoiding those for so long, I forgot until I saw your first post in this thread again! LOL!
Dairy and sugar were my first food 'allergies' - it's really due to the dysfunction in my gut caused by these infections - but I still can't tolerate them. I can easily use goat's milk products though.
Caffeine is not really an allergy for me, but due to having developed Addison's, I must avoid caffeine. It now puts me to sleep about
an hour after feeling really buzzed. LOL. But it harms my adrenals every time, so I have to avoid it now at all costs until my adrenals are healed. Boy, do I wish I could find a way to speed that up though!!!
