candida help

Hi everyone,
I posted last week after getting bit by a dog asking about the tetanus shot. When I went in to the dr that day (urgent care) they gave me doxy 100 mg 2/day and metronizadole (flagyl) 500 mg 3/day to prevent infection. Since these are also lyme meds, I switched to using these rather than the 100 mino and 300 cefdinir 2/day I'd previously been taking.

Since switching meds, my candida issues have become a problem. Now I've got oral thrush, and even though I'm using the nystatin (the liquid), it doesn't seem to be helping. I could go back to urgent care and ask for something different, but I"ve still got 5 days of the flagyl doxy combo before I'm finished. Any thoughts on how I should proceed? I haven't taken my meds yet today because I feel so defeated (and tired as the candida seems to make me extra tired). I'm not symptom free of lyme yet, though I have made very good progress, and so I"m hoping the next time I see my lyme dr (the 30th) I can wean myself of antibiotics and go more the herbal route. Any advice? I have read through the new to lyme candida section.

Have you been on Diflucan?

Maybe discuss this with your LLMD - does he take phone calls?

The info in new to lyme was great, but more for what i need to do long term.

Haven't been on diflucan. That is what I was thinking I should go to urgent care to ask for.

I'd like to take a break from the antibiotics, but figure I'll have to power through the 10 days of flagyl because of the dog bite. I'm at least not taking it today...The other issue is with flagyl I can't take any of my tinctures bc they are all alcohol based and I can't have anything w alcohol.

I will ask my lyme dr on the 30th about continuing just with buhner or at least reducing the amount of abx. at this point my worst symptoms seem to be from the candida, not the lyme.

Have you been able to get the pure nystatin from a reg dr (not lyme dr). I"m wondering only because then I can get my insurance to cover whereas if my lyme dr prescribes it's out of pocket.

1000daisies--I live in Oregon, and I am seeing an ND, and my insurance, Kaiser, will not cover my prescriptions written by an ND who is not Kaiser ND. As far as I know, there are no Kaiser LLNDs or LLMDs. The infectious disease specialist I saw through Kaiser told me I was a false positive case, and that even if I weren't, they wouldn't treat me beyond the two weeks.

I just started that SF 722 from Thorne. Its Undecenoic acid and anti-candida. Also, you can take high dose Biotin. For some reason, it blocks Candida's ability to root in the intestines. I take 6000 a day.
