Heartbeat in my head

Does anyone hear an extremely loud "heartbeat" in their ear? its getting worse and more constant. it started within the last month and sounds like I am listening to my own heart through a stethescope, almost like when you hear your babies heartbeat during an ultrasound. its bizarre and happens mostly in the evenings when i am trying to wind down. ive tried sitting, standing, moving to get it to stop and nothing is working. i think its something like puslatile tenittus. that is completely self diagnosed.

wanted to see if its normal before i schedule a drs appointment....because i am soooo sick of dr appts. GRR.

i have lyme, mycoplasma, c pneumonaie, babesia....annnnd who knows what else smile currrently treating with abx. doxy, clarithoromycin, metronidazole. fluconazole, cats claw, reishi and some other herbals.

Yes, I get this; I usually only get it when I am laying down and it is quiet. I also get something when my pain is high that feels like my body is throbbing and I can feel my heartbeat everywhere the pain is occurring.

Not sure what it is, I was thinking it was the minocycline or Zithromax, both of those say head issues are symptoms.

I so had this and it is annoying and so repetitious. It drove me crazy and it I too found no way to stop it. Finally treatment made it go away. I did a lot of herbs and believe the combination was the trick.

Hawthorn, Motherwort, Japanese Knotweed, Red Root, lymph massage and "many" other things I believe relieved it.

I did go to the doctor. I did buy a blood pressure cuff. I did buy an oxygen monitor. It really scared me. I was glad it was all lyme but it was scary.

I felt better going to the doctor just to be safe.

I had the pulsing in my head every time I stood up from sitting...i thought for sure it was my blood pressure...so over several days, my husband would put the cuff on and nope - my bp was fine.

I also have/had the Pulsatile tinnitus - when I put my ear on the pillow - it's a swooshing sound - seems to be in time with my heart beat.

I believe it was part of my POTS package of autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

It got slightly better with bart treatment, but now I'm on Babesia treatment - it's almost gone...like 90% gone.
Some nights it's not there at all.

ipaiges23 - have you been on a full Babesia protocol...with Mepron?

I had it early on before I knew I had Lyme and co. It thankfully went away with treatment and has not come back.
I think it went away after a few months of treatment for me.

Sometimes when we start to target a different infection, new symptoms can appear.

Not sure if this is the case with you but something to consider.

Sounds like it could be from Bartonella then - at least in your case. You've stirred it up.

Well, I guess it's possible that in my case - the bart treatment was healing it...(as it did get somewhat better on bart treatment) and continued to heal after stopping the Rifampin.

So hard to figure it all out.

so hard to say. i looked up pulsatile tinnitus and the underlying causes seem pretty serious...its all a little intimidating. i have MRIs and a lumbar puncture next week, if it doesnt stop I will bring it up. i wish my LLMD wasnt SOOO expensive. if i call and ask her itll be 200 dollars and if i schedule an appointment about 600. Maybe my primary care or neurologist could offer help.

thank you all for replying. it does take some of the worry away. its so darn loud and distracting at night to hear your hearbeat in your head....another weird Lyme symptom!

I literally JUST had this. Started with my head feeling like the blood was rushing to it, so I took a deep breath, laid down, and put on an anti-anxiety binaural beat. Binaural beats are saving my life right now. It took about an hour, maybe less, for it to calm down.

Wear headphone, lay down.

I also took a b12 supplement and drank a glass of Calm (magnesium and calcium). Who's to say which helped, maybe all three?
