I'm down to 109. I was 115 1 1/2 weeks ago. Very scary. The RN at my LLND said eat a lot! I had thyroid levels checked again today.
Eating a lot works. But it has to be ALOT.
How tall are you?
I eat twice as much (literally) as I need to maintain weight for someone of my height and gender, which is approximately 2000-2500 calories. So I consume 4500+ calories.
This not only stops the wasting and but adds mass back as well.
I've probably gained 20 pounds in 3 months (which doesn't mean there isn't still problem areas where lyme is hitting the body the hardest). I should have gained more than that after 3 months but it shows how much of a starting deficit people with lyme are when consuming food/nutrients.
People with lyme often say "I eating so much but can't gain" What they mean is they are eating 30% more, or 50% more. You have to eat 100%+ more. Literally doubling calories if not more and do it everyday.
Whether it's lyme breaking down and scavenging nutrients, to digestive mal-absorption, or the body going into fat reserves as fuel to fight off the lyme and co, whatever the case you have to give your body all of the calories and nutrients for all those reason and then still have an adequate amount left for yourself.
A lot of people with lyme don't do this and they either continue to lose or they stop the loss but cannot gain it back.
Which is a tough thing to do. It takes a lot of joy out of eating. Stuffing your face starts becoming a task or a job
