Nausea for 7 months - is this related to Lyme?

Hi all,

I have been sick for 7 months now. I've seen over 50 doctors and have done hundreds of blood tests and many procedures (MRI's, CT's, ultrasounds, endoscopies, gallbladder test, gastric emptying study, etc.). It all started out with severe nausea... two months later, I also started experiencing severe headaches, chest pains, joint pain that comes and goes, excessive hair loss, shortness of breath, dizziness, left pelvic pain, systemic inflammation and muffled right ear due to inflammation. Oh and I'm not fatigue at all, I just don't feel good or like my normal self. The nausea is CONSTANT and I can't even have a 5 minute break without it. It's absolutely horrible!!! Crazy thing is that I can eat and still have an appetite. The nausea seems to be around my head/neck area rather than my stomach. This last naturopathic doctor that I saw tested me for Lyme disease through Igenex, which was both expensive and extensive. I explained to him that I had already been tested twice and my results were negative both times but he said not to rely on those tests. My Igenex test results came back - my doctor believes that I have Lyme. But I'm unsure if Lyme can cause severe chronic nausea for 7 months? I'm scared I'll have to live like this forever or that it may be due to another underlying illness. Nothing seems to help. Has anyone had Lyme and chronic nausea? Are they related? :'-(

Here are my Igenex test results:

B. burgdorferi IFA – G/M/A Results: 80
IGM: 31+ and 41+
IGG: 34+, 39+ and 41+++
B. duncani IFA - IGG Result: 80
B. Henselae IFA - IGG Result: 40

Everything else was negative.

May be you should try electro-dermal testing. Sometimes you can get a different view of what is happening from a bioresonance practitioner.
I have had nausea but it is always something to do with what I am eating.
With my first bioresonance test the practitioner told me I was allergic to 'down" I was in bed all day long with a 'down' quilt covering me. It was a bit of a shock but I improved when I replaced the quilt.
I have gotten used to the idea I have a whole lot of weird symptoms that come from sensitivities to things I eat and to things in my environment. Bit by bit I have eliminated them. I used to have dairy everyday, and grains. When I changed to the Paleo diet I suddenly felt better by about 30%.
The nausea could be due to lyme but it may be indirectly due to it with lyme making you more sensitive to one of your everyday foods. These days I get seriously horrible nausea from dandelion root, mushrooms, acid foods on an empty stomach. I have lyme in remission but the digestive damage has been done so I still have to be aware of what I am eating.

Thanks for your response. I have never had any sensitivities or allergies to anything my whole life. I just woke up one morning and felt weird and nauseous and I actually threw up that morning. Since then, my symptoms have progressed and the nausea is never-ending. In either instance, thank you very much for the suggestions.

I am not sure exactly how long before it went away. I herxed for 8 straight months and then I switched drs who changed my protocol to a pulsed therapy which is when I was able to get out of bed. It was hard for those months with so many symptoms just because I was so toxic. I have the mthfr gene and couldnt detox. So I think I was so sick then but not sure if it got better then or after I started pulsing.

The gluten free diet keeps it in check for me. I find if I cheat and eat badly the stomach doesn't empty and abdominal pain starts and nausea too.

But I also get the head nausea too. It's not always from the stomach. Again only get it occasionally now too. I think its all due to cns lyme or bart. Not sure but nervous, system related for me.

All I know at this point as its been a long journey is that i started with the stomach pain and nausea...it was one of the first symptoms that started. I reread my first post. It came out weird. I had gastroparesis for two years,before gastroparesis diagnosis. It was another 6 years before Lyme diagnosis. So i had the nausea for a long time. But in comparison it cleared up quickly for me once i started antibiotics. Just not sure how fast as i was still so sick in so many ways I just can't reemermber when each symptom that left finally did so.

All I can stress is your stomach is very sensitive right now. Did you have an endoscopy? If you did I would suspect they saw gastritis? You need to baby your stomach. Maybe soft foods for awhile. I couldn't tolerate solid food so I juiced for awhile but I threw that up and that was even worse so I ate soft food. Also, Be careful with ibuprofen or aspirin. Take good probiotics. And detox your nervous system with burbur and Pinella, as gastroparesis is caused by the nerves innervating your stomach are affected by Lyme and co, Making your stomach sluggish so the food sits in there not digesting causing inflammation which causes nausea. By detoxing you are ridding these nerves of the toxins. Nerves love to hold the toxins, by flushing them out you will heal faster. Curcumin helps inflammation...it helped me since my stomach was so inflamed.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Chronic nausea is so miserable. It will get better. I promise...just keep fighting. Treat your stomach gently. Build your immmune system while you treat.

I also have an open prescription for zophran. I take it sublingually when really needed. It kills nausea in a few minutes. If you can get that it helps so much but take senecot with it so you dont get backed up....you cant detox if your backed up. Ginger lollipos also help. Whole foods carries them.

So sorry if this seems scattered. Gah the Lyme keeps me from organizing my thoughts. Cant wait till that's gone too.

I wish I could just wave a magic wand and rid you of this nausea instantly.

Get a HIDA scan on your gallbladder WITH a CCK challenge. It showed my GB functioning at 15%. I got my GB out and the vast majority of my
Nausea went away and rarely comes back. Sometimes right after I take my Meds for 10 minutes. I used to have it 24/7.
Your ultrasound will likely be normal. Doesn't matter. That mostly
Checks for stones which I didn't have any.

I had the HIDA scan on my gallbladder and it came back negative. I don’t know what this could possibly be from. I just woke up with it 7 months ago and it hasn’t gone away since, which is why I was wondering if maybe it was due to Lyme but apperantly not.

Yes, I tested negative for all of those things.

I’m nauseous at all times whether I eat or not; in the morning, at night, in the middle of the night, throughout the day... literally don’t have a second without it. It’s driving me crazy! I don’t know what it could possibly be. My right ear is muffled and inflamed but I was told I don’t have an inner ear issue.

I live in CA.

Thank you so much for your candor. I am assisting someone with similar symptoms and this is why I asked. I am searching for answers like the rest of us.

There are some differences now that you have elaborated but I must admit the recurring nausea in both of your cases is ratter baffling.

It is by all of us being willing to share information that I believe we may find solutions where doctors have failed us.
