Wonderful post Jo!
After moving to SoCal, I put together 3 kits -
One is a tiny kit that I take with me when I travel, which includes the infusions I need while I'm gone and any other meds, an epi-pen (or kit - now that they are too expensive), a list of meds and supps I take, and a letter from my MD explaining the meds and my IV port) and hers and other MD contact info.
The 2nd one is a water-proof duffle bag I keep under my bed with a flashlight, hand-crank charger for phone, emergency phone and minutes, change of clothes, couple bottles of water, one of those special masks, and "survival" type stuff (thermal blanket, water purifier, etc...) energy bars, tampons, a small first-aid kit, and several documents and photocopies of my photo IDs, financial accounts and contact list and some cash in another little water-proof baggie.
Every 3 months (every quarter) I have a few things I do - I replace my toothbrush, wash the blanket on my bed, rotate my two plants, replace the dehumidifier containers in my closet (it's VERY humid here) and rotate the meds in/out of my "go-bag".
Over the years I've been able to add things I forgot - there are some outstanding "emergency" lists out there.
I also have a larger bag in the garage with more long-term stuff. I can barely carry this one it's so heavy. I often toss this in the car and leave it there, especially when I drive long distances but I figure it's ready to go if I'm able to drive out of danger. In some cases that won't be possible and I'll be on foot so the smaller bag will do.
Now, if all of CA just slips into the ocean... I'll really need my own helicopter or like a single-person drone. Don't have one of those yet.
