Has anyone heard of Artemisin and grapefruit juice?
My doctor (natural) gave me some liposomal 100mg and I know to take it with grapefruit juice although he did not tell me.
I hear it is mainly for babesia

The thing about grapefruit juice is it can have a lot of sugar.

Also grapefruit juice can interfere with many drugs.

Really check to see if you have any contraindications of any medicines and grapefruit juice. Any juices should be check. They are now saying that it is not only grapefruit juice. There are others.

I have not heard of taking the Artemisinin with grapefruit juice before.
Where did you see/read this (you mentioned your Dr. didn't tell you this) ?

And are you only taking 100 mg of Artemisinin? Are you going to ramp up to higher doses?


As far as sugar goes...I wouldn't worry about it.(in the GF juice).(unless you have active Candida) as Buhner (Master Herbalist) recommends the herbs be taken in Pomegranate juice which is quite high in sugar.

I take Artemisinin as part of my Babesia protocol.

I have found it to be quite powerful.

Prior to this, I did some rounds of it when I was treating Bartonella.

I did 4 days on and 10 days off.

Started off on round one with low dose and each round I increased.
I'm pretty sure I herxed on it.

A good brand is AllergyResearch Group - it is quite expensive - I bought it off Amazon.

I think it was 500 mg 3X daily.

I will check my notes later.


On Round 1 I started quite low...and increased on the 4 days.

On Round 2 I think I started where I left off on Round 1

etc. until I reached the higher amount...I will look through my notes and post an update later.

I think I did 9 rounds of it...and it took 2 bottles? can't remember - it was over a year ago.
Sorry - still haven't checked/located my notes yet.

I can't say for sure because I was doing bartonella treatment between the 'rounds' of artemisinin.

I have never had a dramatic improvement with any of the protocols...i have just slowly, gradually, dropped symptoms...over time...

I remember one herx I had when I was taking the Artemisinin.- I woke up in the middle of the night shivering, and bad anxiety and was crying. Those are Babesia symptoms.

I don't think the Artemisinin was enough to deal with babesia on it's own.
I am now doing a full Babesia protocol with Mepron, and Artemisinin is part of it.

Some people don't mind the taste.
I didn't at first...but now....I have to psyche myself up to take it and chase it right away with a Tbsp. of peanut butter.


Yes, it's very expensive.
