Hi. Pir.
What test do you recommend for yeast and fungus? My urine culture was negative.
Also what do you recommend for detox? I am eating a healthy diet and drinking a lot of water only.
I don't currently have a kind. I had to stop treatment a few years ago after several years of antibiotics and natural/herbal.
I did get better with treatment but it only took me so far. I manage pretty well until something comes up and I have to take antibiotics again. I just can't handle them well at all anymore. They make me feel so sick and toxic. I hate them so much!
Also I spent so much money over the years that I just couldn't see the point anymore if I wasn't getting any better and I didn't really have anymore to spend. It's unreal how much LD treatment can cost and over the years it really adds up. I still feel angry when I think about how much I spent and how we have to pay out of pocket for llmd when we have medical insc. Ugh.
Here is my general suggestion for detoxing:
DETOXING
The best approach to detoxing is to cover all the 6 bases:
skin - skin is our largest detox organ so soaking or sweating can help draw out toxins - there are many "recipes" online - always start with one thing at a time, increase temperature, exposure and duration very slowly over time
GI - you're on the right track with the charcoal - you will need to maintain 2 hr time buffers before and after the GI binders since it will drag everything out of your GI with it - incl nutrition and meds/supps so give your body a chance to digest these before and after the binder.
brain - the Pinella & Burber aren't binders or antimicrobials - they help the nerves in the brain and I can't explain it better than that - sorry!
liver - it's wise to support the liver and kidneys as they process a lot of toxins - milk thistle seed, burdock root, Pekana homeopathic drainage kits are helpful
lymph - help your circulatory system carry the toxins out of your body and prevent the nodes from getting clogged with red root, dry brushing and gentle massage, warm compresses - look up directions for the last 3 online - technique is important.
inflammation - SO MUCH of our process involves inflammation - it's a natural defense mechanism our immune system employs (often, w/out our permission!) that is intended to "punt" the gunk out of our tissues. And the inflammation is what causes so many other symptoms to pop up (cold and flu sx) but it usually means your immune sx is at work. My Lyme-knowledgable neurologist suggests that MOST neuropathy is due to inflammation so it's important to also reduce the uncomfortable side effects while we're treating, too. Turmeric is popular on this forum. I also like japanese knotweed.
BINDING
Again - generally, the only binding you're doing is with the charcoal. And again, time buffers are critical and so is drinking a lot of water before, during and after taking the charcoal. Over time you can also add bentonite clay or another binder - double up. You want to take the binders after you're done killing everything for the day. Some people can fit in two doses of binding but with the time buffers, this makes it pretty difficult.
*******
Yeast/fungus
The best approach is to evaluate symptoms - here is more info (it's a lot of reading - maybe just jump to the list of typical symptoms and if they ring a bell, read more of the post):
Y/FO post in the "New to Lyme?" thread:

I like the DMSO suggestion - worth a try. Heavy metals and yeast/fungus often go hand-in-hand. Chelating heavy metals is tricky though, so I'd exhaust other possibilities before doing that.
I know the cost is astronomical. I've last hundreds of thousands over the years - in lost wages and failed treatment. Again, there are MANY other protocols that people are implementing other than abx so I would explore alternative treatments. Many people on this forum can help you decide what to look into. But you might have to create a specific post requesting input so that it gets more visibility.
