Traveler,
Is there somewhere I might be able to find what you've used to treat Lyme? I ended up on this thread b/c in the last 4 months, I've noticed the tops of both greenish-brown irises have turned blue. My former doctor whose lab gave me a positive WB for Lyme 2 months ago (and rickettsia/RMSF two 6 weeks prior) said that an elevated cholesterol total (mine has raised 50 pts in a year b/c I can't exercise now from multiple tendon issues) wouldn't change eye color. Has anyone had theirs change color w/any of these tick borne infections? I'm sure I've had Lyme 5 years at least.

Tano, how do you know all of this stuff? I had no idea Michael J Fox and Robin Williams had anything to do with Lyme until I just read this and googled them with Lyme disease. I feel like I just know so much less than most people on here!

I'm trying to catch up, but I'm just light years behind.

Interesting theory... my eyes are 'hazel' - but depending on the particular moment change quite a bit. I see everything from light brown...green... grey to blues & also some odd indescribable mixtures.

My father has blue eyes, my mother brown, so my situation could follow the genetic theory.

I am not sure that Blue Eyes in an of themselves make your healing more difficult. It might be that most of the blue eyed people (mine are blue) carry the recessive gene for O neg blood.

My wife and son are both O neg, where as I am A+. Seems that we might look at blue eyes as an indicator of our blood types. That would be more likely;

The ones I listed with brown eyes - they had difficulty with their journey as well.

Ranger from Under Our skin - was it 8 years?
Marisol still isn't well.
Angeli had a long treatment as well.

Although Shania - not sure about her treatment.

Ummm... I have brown(although with blue recessive), so Bb
I have gotten insanely sick and my treatment has been very difficult, although successfull at first.

Just to be more clear.
My mom is blue = bb
My dad is brown = Bb
My sister is blue, only way she got blue if my dad, being Brown, gave her recessive b.
But I am brown, but mom gave me b regardless, so I am Bb

Hope it made sense.

Interesting. Is O neg the universal donor one, or is that O+? Whichever is not universal is what I think I am. I used to know but, surprise! *brain fog!*

Whichever one it is, no one would want my blood now except maybe the undead! smilewinkgrin

Wow! So he's obviously noticed this already. You'd think others would be making this connection too. It really must be gene related! All of my kids have blue. I sure hope I didn't pass this to them when I was pregnant. I could've had this for years before it showed up, and it only showed up after I had three babies in 20 months and never got any sleep. I always wonder if the stress of that time and the lack of sleep might have lowered my immune system so much that a switch was clicked on or something.

I was breastfed for a long time, so that definitely contributed to my strong immunity, but I doubt it has anything to do with my eye color!

What is this thread? Some people with Lyme disease have brown eyes, some have blue eyes.

I think we're just wondering about the genetic mutations that go with blue eyed genes and blood types. I've been sick as a dog with this for years and never recover quickly from things. I would probably have died as a child without antibiotics from the amount of ear infections and strep throat I had. I was breast fed for a long time too.

I'm not sure there really is a connection. I think people were just listing celebs who had it and thought that it might be more prevalent in blue eyed people. It's kind of like how some people are calling it "a rich white woman's disease" because so many of those celebs have it. I might be a white woman, but I'm sure not rich! smile

I recently completed a survey of eye color in a large lyme group, and the result was that 73% of the 248 respondents (they lived in the U.S.) had blue or green eyes, whereas the percentages of blue or green eyes in the U.S. population as a whole is 59%. It was definitely a statistically significant result.

Light eye color is a genetic marker (of ancient northern European ancestry, possibly way, way back). Northern Europeans for some unknown reason are more susceptible to some autoimmune conditions. They also have a higher percentage of Rh negative blood than the rest of the world.
