Well I guess I should not have said nothing happened to him.... He healed from lyme, or it went into remission.
PeteZa what brand of knotweed do you two use? I've been getting some variable batches but your family seems to have an easier time with remission! Lol. Just want to make sure I'm using the best product I can based off actual success stories.
As for this topic... I think the hysteria over phytoestrogens is not healthy. They are quite frankly unavoidable in the plant world. Maybe there are certain contraindications but in general I think this fear is the product of applying reductionist speculation to complex plant mixtures. A plant needs to be looked at as a whole entity and not a dead vehicle for drug delivery. The constituents of the plants simply do not have the same effect as their pharmaceutical derivatives would. Much like fruit is good for you, fructose is bad for you. It's the context that makes the difference not the chemical in question. There are so many synergistic and antagonistic relationships among the chemicals in herbs that you can not possibly look at it in a pharmacological light. Anyways, I've been taking Japanese Knotweed for the better half of a year now and no man-boobs yet. And for the record I did have gynecomastia when I was a teen. Real gynecomastia, not pseudo. So... I would suspect I would be pretty vulnerable to these feminizing effects if there were any. But I don't actually know anything about
this and so you probably shouldn't take me seriously. But good luck finding someone who actually does know and is not just speculating
We use Hawaii Pharm. Sometimes I get if from them and sometimes I find that it is on Amazon Prime so I don't have to pay shipping.
I haven't ordered it in months.... we still have some, but aren't doing it now.
We use our herbs now on an as needed basis. When we need them, I want them to work and I don't want to have created a tolerance for them. While herbs are medicine, and should be used as such (not just taking whatever, whenever), using herbs continually will NOT build up a tolerance, as long as it's WHOLE herbs, not extracts of certain constituents of an herb. The best example that is used in Lyme circles is Artemesia annua and arteminisin.
There are many scientific articles that are now saying that arteminisin builds resistance in microbes, where as there is no resistance built up from Artemesia annua. It's whole herb vs extracts.
Herbs like astragalus - the perfect herb for those that want to avoid getting Lyme, or are in the early stages (can cause significant herxing in those with chronic Lyme, so it's not usually suggested for them), can start it and stay on it for as long as needed - as long as it's the whole herb. No resistance will build and - unless the person is allergic to it - it can be used for a very long time.
