as many as 1 in 15 people have lyme and co. That's approximately 500M (half a billion) people worldwide.
a minscule percent of those people are on online forums or writing a blog about their lyme disease. People treat, get better, and then move on with life.
I even did that myself the first time I put lyme into remission.
Then when I relapse I came crawling back with my tail between my legs. Now as I have lyme 90%+ back into remission once again, I've decided I will not do that again.
I'm consistently back on to share hope and advice. I'm not just going to use this place (the place that taught me so much about getting well and helped keep my sanity during really dark times) only when I'm down and out.
But to stick around and give back how I can.
Edit: to give some perspective. I was listening to a podcast where a guy was being interviewed. The interview had NOTHING to do with lyme disease. But through the natural progression of the conversation of this 2hr+ podcast lyme disease happened to come up.
And the guest said "oh yea I had lyme disease" and the conversation continue for about 30 minutes on lyme disease. He had it for 3 years undiagnosed. He was in terrible shape. At one point bed ridden. Aand it took 3 years for him to fully recover. He shared his complete story. Once again the interview and podcast originally had nothing to do with lyme disease.
It just shows you how common it is and how people get, get better, and move on.
This is SO true! When I first found out I had Lyme I felt so alone. Then as you start to talk to people about
it you find that almost everyone knows SOMEONE that has/had Lyme.
-My sister is a teacher and one of the teachers at her school had it for a few years and then beat it.
-My manager had a friend at her last job that had it for awhile
-One of my friends just got it a few months ago
-I went out with some work friends and they said someone in another department is struggling with it
-My uncles best friend had Lyme. Doctors told him he had cancer but they couldn't find it. They told him he would die. He found an LLMD and did IV Rocefin and got 100% better almost instantly. I think he only did it for a month.
The list goes on and on. People get Lyme, beat Lyme and don't want to look back in my opinion. Usually if I try to talk to someone about
how they got better they are really short. Like Astroman said, it's like an extended nightmare that we just want to forget when it is all over.
When I heal, though, I will be sure to help in every way I can if someone comes to me.
