Have you tried pure nystatin for yeast? That can definitely help if stools are affected by yeast (which they frequently are) - especially if been on abx.
I just take the nystatin pills. Is this what you mean?
I just started taking s. boulardii on recommendation from both my doctors. That is scary that it can cause yeast issues. What did you read that says it can and what does it do? Feed the yeast?
I just got a stool panel back that says a lottt of things are out of wack, but yeast wasn't of them. It says normal for that. Looks like inflammation markers and secretory IgA. Waiting to hear back from my doctor..Hi Nic. I posted the link of the article on the s. boulardii yeast issue on the other thread. But here it is again for you in case you didn't see it.
COPY FROM OTHER THREAD:
That is a good article, but unfortunately, it (like so many others) says how safe s. boulardii is. But that's not true. I don't doubt that it has good aspects to it in certain situations, but I wish these articles would give the pros/cons (both sides of it). Perhaps, people just don't understand the s. boulardii/s. cerevisiae yeast infection yet. That doesn't surprise me because I have this for years and couldn't get ANYWHERE with the MD docs on this (they were truly clueless).
Saccharomyces cerevisiae fungemia: an adverse effect of Saccharomyces boulardii probiotic administration.
Saccharomyces cerevisiae fungemia: an emerging infectious disease.
