I'm just starting my 12 year old out on the candida diet. She has sporadically been taking a product called 'Biome Medic' by purium and I finally looked at the ingredients again and am happy with what is listed so will make sure to have her take it daily.
Ingredients include: digestive wheat germ extract, chicory root fiber extract, fulvic and humic acid blend, bacillus coagulans. Google each of those ingredients with yeast overgrowth.
Does anyone have OAT test results? My daughter is very high on yeast makers and low for serotonin. She is low for mold markers, thank goodness. I learned about
the 'tryptophan steal' where tryptophan (precursor for serotonin) is used to make quinolinic acid (a neuro excitotoxin) preferentially over the pathway making serotonin because of candida (unsure of other strains of yeast). So, I am also going to give her 5 HTP powder (another precursor to serotonin further down from tryptophan). I'm looking into chewable digestive enzymes, highly bioavailable liquid mutlivitamin and mitochondrial support.
She is also high in oxalate metabolites, which can make any methylation issues worse, so will counter that with a supplement of calcium citrate/malate and B6 (which she is also low in
)
I have yet to choose a brand/binder for die off, so any suggestions there would be good.
Best!
