DJB55, How long past treatment are you?
Ha! Still treating after almost a year. Took me 4 months to get diagnosed correctly as I never saw a tick bite.
I've had 2 integrative docs that are marginally Lyme literate. I've made a ton of progress but would like to be done with it and move on. I lost >20lbs, became very weak and deconditioned, profoundly fatigued, and looked pallid and sick. I gained back the weight but with less fat/more muscle, most of the stamina, and now look better than before I got sick. Oh, and I'm sleeping better too.
I have an extrinsic source of stress that I think exacerbates the anxiety and agitation. Unfortunately I need to deal with that internally as I don't know how to eliminate the external stressor.
I'm going to retest then visit a prominent llmd in sf before long who supposedly understands how to get patients around this herx business. My current llmd only offered a glib remark and no alternatives when I told him about
the herx problem that starts within 12hrs of taking the abx. So I stopped seeing him several months ago and stuck with herbal formulas, rather than doing damage taking the wrong abx. But, I'll try abx again so long as I can trust the prescribing doc.
I wish I could offer you some sage advice but this is such an individual disease. There are tons of people who've treated longer and more aggressively than I and haven't made near the progress I have. I can't explain it, unless maybe my immune system is handling it thus far.
All the best,
BJD
