German study finds Lyme in mosquitoes

Researchers have found the pathogens that cause Lyme disease in mosquitoes for the first time in central Europe.

Lyme disease or Lyme borreliosis is a vector-borne infectious disease caused by spirochetes of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex.

In the present study, adult as well as larval mosquitoes were collected at 42 different geographical locations throughout Germany.

This is the first study to analyze German mosquitoes for the presence of Borrelia spp.

The team found Borrelia DNA in ten Culicidae species of mosquito, comprising four distinct genera (Aedes, Culiseta, Culex, and Ochlerotatus).

Link doesn't work for me. Anyways, lets just remember that being present in a mosquito doesn't mean being effectively transmitted in a mosquito. Sure, it might be a risk. But possibly much less than a tick which has coevolved with the pathogen to spread it effectively

Yes, they suck bigtime

In ticks, lyme comes from their gut, they puke it in you before sucking. They might do that when finished to. Yes that contradicts the whole time frame thing.

Transmission might depend on the pathogen, how it harbors ect

Yeah, that's how I got Lyme.

Mosquito bite in Paris Summer of 2013. Foot swelled up double its size, couldn't walk on it. Got home to USA, digestion never recovered. Symptoms manifested slowly over the next two years - first with central serous retinopathy and then small panic attacks that turned into massive ones.

Did you inject it or how does it work?

I think the better question is why do most not get lyme?

I already hated mosquitos but this takes it to the next level.

Yep, I got Lyme from a mosquito bite in Central Park, NY in 2008.

How long did it take to get rid if yours and how often did you Rife for it please?

If swarms of skeeters start infecting with lyme in the US by the masses, it will become quite obvious considering there are large regions where its 100% impossible to avoid mosquito bites, unless you live in a bubble. 5 just mowing your lawn on a July evening- average if your successful in swatting off all the other 25+.

Magoo2 - Thats still more of the general population that would also get sick though, media would prob take notice even more than they already are.

Its almost spring- this will be in the news soon, always is. Lyme "news" on the regional level is swaying in our direction/favor in parts of the upper mid-west. Cats out of the bag.

The county in Wisconsin (Burnett) where I got the most ticks years ago even has a warning on their website in the summer. Great mnt biking north of there now, not worth it though, deer tick and lyme ground zero. Mnt bike action mag had a big write up on great trails in Cable area and almost equal info on the local deer tick caution.

Exposure vs acute lyme vs chronic lyme is about our personal immune strength (the environment effecting that) and individual genes plus their "expression".

There are people in the logging/paper industry tested with BB in them, yet no symptoms. Parts of the industry tests for BB regularly per a contact of mine. Thats a good population to do studies on if anyones looking.
