Justin01,
I've had all the symptoms you mentioned at various times. I have Lyme and Bartonella, too. I've had some throat symptoms at various times but they were not constant or long term as it sounds like with you. I had some bad reflux issues for a while and would get throat pain, almost like a spasm pain. I've had that again in recent months during brief spells of herxing. I also have times when I feel "allergic," like lately the edge of my nose feels itchy sometimes when I'm eating and I wonder if I'm allergic to food. Many months ago, I had bouts of violent sneezing that lasted briefly. Also had bouts of itching, like when I first started Vit C. I thought I was allergic to Vit C. In actuality, I took way too much to start with.
I've had brief times when I felt tightness in my throat when not eating or taking anything, just kind of a weird feeling. Also had trouble swallowing at times. That was one of my first symptoms. Many of those episodes were long before I knew about Lyme or started any treatments. For me, the symptoms are random. I haven't found anything specific to address the throat issues and haven't had it as a primary symptom. I'm sure it is indeed very scary. Trying antihistamine sounds like a smart idea. If it works, then make sure to tell your doctor and allergist, as that would indicate it is an allergic type immune response.
I assume your doctor is aware of all this. If not, make sure to discuss it. Some people develop histamine intolerance or mast cell disorders (MCAS), which can be quite serious. If those are ruled out along with allergies, then you can probably assume it really is bartonella or Lyme.
I agree with you. I believe bartonella can also cause the breathing issues. I've read that in some medical descriptions.
Hello WalkingbyFaith (great name btw),
How much Vit. C were you taking? I agree with going slow, but one can take a lot of Vit. C (6,000 - 15,000 mg or more per day) without any issues, although it really depends on the person. Buffered C is preferred, and of course IV Vit. C can be a lot better on the GI tract.
I actually have been studying up a lot on MCAS. I had my allergist write me a requisition form for a number of the various tests used to diagnose that issue. I do believe I've read that bartonella and/or Lyme can actually trigger that issue as well, but the good news is that it can be treated even though it may be difficult.
It is my belief that some of these pathogens can take all your emotions, and weaknesses you have and/or had in the past and amplify them a number of times. That's what I think is happening to me. I had allergies as a child, but when I changed my diet to Pescatarian, all organic foods, only water, and no inflammatory foods, all those allergy issues stopped. Then, I get Lyme disease and at least one co-infection, and bam! Some are now back. I'm still eating the same way, but these things weaken you. I will find a way to heal from these things, and I will be sure to help others and share what I learn/learned when I'm better. My belief is that the only real way to heal is to incorporate both conventional (if tolerated) and natural methods (nature knows best!), as well as bringing your mind into the right place and trusting in God (being the most important), though I'm not trying to push my religious beliefs on any of you.
Thanks to all on this site, and especially to all of you who are on this thread. Let me know if I could ever be of assistance to you. Thanks again.
