I was doing some reading and thinking. What kind of labs/ monitoring/ tests should I be doing while on antibiotics?
My GP isn't the most pro-active but if I request something that makes sense he will order it. Can people suggest what they have been doing and why?
Also I am starting Rifampin soon. Am concerned as I know it can be a hard drug to take.

I didn’t find Rifampin very hard to take but I did start off lower dose for a few weeks.
My GP - knowing I was on long term antibiotics gave me a standing order for monthly tests: Kidney and liver function tests, as well as hematology profile.

Oh good to know about
the Rifampin. So far my body has been a total champ with everything except IV clarithromycin. I was kind of feeling a little fear about
starting the Rifampin just in case.
Thanks also for tests - I will request.

The Rifampin should be taken on empty stomach. Beware - you will have orange pee.

I have seen some liver values rise with abx so definitely that one. In addition kidney and blood count. ECG is recommended if you are on azithromycin
