My cousin had Lyme's and babesia when she was a kid. She was on antibiotics for 2 years (1 year after no symptoms) and has been fully recovered for over 8 years now. Some people do get fully better. I've been treating my Lyme's for 4 months now and have been feeling really good lately. I'm not all the way there yet, but on some days I'm almost back to normal, and I've been able to continue my life normally.

Wow - an extra year after symptoms resolved? That's unusual.

I agree, Denise, that I have learned so much from this challenge, and I have made decisions to have a healthier future for all of us.

However, it has been beyond a nightmare for my family. I personally can't spin it to overall positive for us. It has stole many things from us that we will never get back. Mostly, I miss the innocence of childhood that my children have lost... and time, a lot of time lost. So much suffering too. Some things, you just can't get back. But I have no choice but to move forward and hope for a better future.

So sorry it's been a nightmare for you and your family. I guess looking back at my life I put everything in perspective... I'll tell you a story (not for anyone to feel sorry for me as I don't like pity) but reflecting on my life.

I went through a nightmare when I was 17 years old when a guy on drugs was speeding and hit me in my left leg when I was crossing a main road with friends. I was 9/10th's across when he hit me and I went up in the air and landed on my head. My parents received a call that night that I was going to die.

To this day I remember every detail as I never became unconscious and even writing this upsets me because it was such a horrible experience.

Someone must have been looking after me because a doctor stopped in front of the ambulance and worked on me for an hour (that was rare in those days) because I was losing too much blood. I never knew that doctor's name who saved my life.

In the hospital my pulse had stopped in my leg and gangrene was setting in so the doctors told me there was a big chance my leg was going to be amputated if the dye shot didn't work. Luckily the 2nd shot worked (I remember it felt like fire burning from the top of my leg down to my toes)....

Obviously I lived and had over 10 operations to put me back together again. That was a nightmare compared to having chronic lyme. I had just graduated H.S. and found a full time job yet I went back to work with no upper teeth, my co-workers called me Grandma! (I was waiting for temps to be made) because I couldn't stand being home anymore. I had over 300 stitches in my scalp, lost my chin, my jaw was wired up, and the list goes on.

I didn't learn anything from that accident except that I suffer from PTSD (saw many therapists). But I did learn so much from having chronic lyme and I'm still learning as I enjoy researching!

I have no idea why I healed and others didn't. Some say it was because I started treatment considerably sooner than most did. Some say it was because even though I got lyme my immune system was really healthy. Some say it was because I had very little stress and I ate extremely healthy organic food.

I have no idea why a treatment works for one and not for another. I did not focus on what I had. Once I knew it was lyme I just assumed that I had other stuff. I think you rarely get lyme alone. I may of had bart because I did have scratch marks on my abdomen ONCE. I may of had babs because it felt like there was glass in my feet.

One thing I did do was I stuck with my treatment for many months. I would get frustrated because I was not getting well as fast as I wanted, but I never gave up. I stayed extremely consistent and extremely anal in my treatment. I did not falter. If it was time to take meds, I did not care where I was or what I was doing, I took my meds!

I quit watching the news because lyme was bad enough news in my life. I listened to my body. Each and every twitch told me something. I got as much sleep as I could. Sleep is a great healing time. I detoxed. I was doing this way before lyme anyway, just didn't know it was called detoxing. I called it organ support or a healthy habit.

One thing I do know is that you may think you have found the most wonderful treatment in the world, and it may be for YOU. BUT!!! it might not work for anyone else. There is no one size fits all with lyme. You can give you suggestions, but that is all they can be. We are all individuals and we all have such varied symptoms. Just start with a plan and go with it with full confidence. When it is not working and you are convinced, change plans.

There is always time to change the road you are on. Just never give up.

Sorry I am not around much any more. I asked the owner of this site if I could be a Moderator after being here for almost 3 years and he never responded. I could see that Girlie could use the help. I have moved on to other ways of helping lyme people in my area. I am also being really appreciative of my health and enjoying my husband's company on many excursions.

Again a year feeling 85-90%. But even if it was cured it left me with cognitive, low thyroid, found out I have MTHFR gene defect etc. Are all of the spirochites ever gone? I believe not as I have chronic soft tissue issues , magnified!! Strains, pull, tendonitis everywhere. I work full time and my age is 64. I also have a infared sauna and take epston salt baths among other things.

I know this is off-topic, but I'm wondering about the 85-90% and the symptoms you still have: cognitive, chronic soft tissue issues, tendonitis.

Did you treat the coinfections - particularly bartonella and babesia?

I have/had close to 40 symptoms and are down to about 8 that are left - that I have almost daily. But, I'm still not in remission.
I just don't want you to be missing something.

I recently had a day where I was pretty much symptom free - not for an hour or two...or three, but the ENTIRE DAY.

I tell myself - that it means active disease and not permanent damage....hoping that's true.
And I'm talking about brain function, head pressure, nerve pain (back, arm, hand), POTS, shivering, rib pain, foot pain...sweating.
ALL GONE.

and, no I wasn't doing anything in particular to detox, as I was away from home - eating meals at restaurants....etc. And had the stress of 4 airports, and all that comes with traveling for over 12 hours in one day.

This has happened occasionally at home as well. (so doubt if it's mold in my home)

Yes Girlie I was treated for co-infections. And I am 85-90% feeling well with only those few symptoms. I won't take any more antibiotics unless I get real sick! The antibiotics screwed up my intestines too much as in severe constipation.

But do you not think that there is active infection still? And maybe continuing with alternative treatments will push you past the 85-90%.
