Astragalus for kids' prevention, mg dosage?

I know that Buhner has given the tincture dosage as 1/8tsp for a 4.5 year old... I have a 9 and 12 year old. They're big enough to do pills and that would be so much cheaper! But at what dose?!!! TIA!

Buhner recommends 1000 mg per day for prevention.

I use Nature's Answer brand Astragalus Root 500 mg capsules (90 count). Pretty reasonable at $5.69 a bottle from Vitacost.

don't know... never had kids. Try 1/2 at first. All I know about this stuff is that he doesn't recommend it for chronic lyme patients because it may cause a severe herx from die-off.

buhner says it can cause a ramping up of the autoimmune response with those who have chronic lyme.

Yeah, this is for prevention for my kids. I got lyme on our property so I want to make sure they don't end up with it. We do bug spray and tick checks but I wanted to add in astragalus too for them.

wise move. If they do get a tick Buhner recommend upping the dosage to 3000 mg per day for thirty days (or as long as symptoms persist) and start the rest of his lyme protocol.
