No minocycline in Canada

The pharmacies are running out (or have already)

Just a heads up - if you have a script to fill. They’re not sure when they will get more

I will have to call the clinic and see what they want me to substitute instead.

I’m wondering what the practitioner will prescribe instead - prob will have me take the bactrim both weeks instead of one.

Maybe Azithromycin


I don’t thing the j clinic ever prescribes doxy or Biaxin - I wonder if it’s because of the p450 interactions

i was prescribed azithromycin instead the pharmacy told me the expected date is mid july for minocyline.

I'm currently on bactrim, ceftin...so probably azithromycin for me too.

I have to ask why they are running out?? I dont hear of it being prescribed for many other things than Lyme. Big increase in lyme cases? If youre desperate I could always post you some from Spain 😊

Well it is used to treat acne as well.

Apparently it's something to do with documentation - the pharmacist said its tied up in beaurocracy.

Thanks Spanish - I'm hoping it will be resolved soon.

I think that they don't interact together, biaxin inihibt cyp and doxy doesn't seem to be afected, but can increase levels of other meds like valium

Riffy can reduce doxy effectiveness.

Riffy and biaxin also interact (but the Bart guru pairs them together )

Well, I have some minocycline left over from a year ago. But, here in Canada, there's no expiration date on our meds.

So, I called the pharmacy where I purchased them from...and asked if they could track it.
They called me back and said the expiration date was in 2019.

So, I'm good to go. Will be taking them.
