Freckles and liver spots appearing more often

Since I have gotten since I get more and more freckles and larger dark spots like liver spots than I used to. I was almost freckle free until I started getting sick. I thought it was from doxycycline at first, but they appear even when I am not taking doxy. They appear more often when I am in the sun, but sometimes can appear in winter months. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there anything I can do? I don't want my face to be covered in liver spots by the end of this!! Thank you.

Well, I have freckles on my face...and what's weird is they went away when lyme symptoms started...I was just pale..no freckles, no rosy cheeks.


So, I was glad when I noticed my freckles coming back on my face...because that is my 'normal'.


I guess some of them are liver spots.

Very strange girlie! Opposite of me. I posted on a lyme Facebook group and it looks like it may be related to excess iron being deposited under the skin due to red blood cells dying too often. Im thinking from babesia? Does bart cause red cells to die also?

I naturally have freckles - Im not talking about liver spots tho.

Odd they left when I got sick - and I was very pale.
I didn’t realize it at the time but people are telling me now how much better I look now and when I look at photos from a few years ago - I do look sick.

I think it’s babesia you’re thinking about - something about it residing in the rbc and when it dies off, it smashes the rbc - and it can contribute to low hemoglobin/ferritin

Yes, Bart. does cause issues with red blood cells too. Both Bart. and Babesia tend to take home in your red blood cells.

I too have noticed these brown spots that you are talking about on myself. I also have a couple of light brownish spots too that developed, but most of them are darker brown. I also have seen a lot more red spots (angiomas).

Interesting to me, the brown spots came out after I started to aggressively use antimicrobials directed against Lyme and Bart. I had biopsies on two of them, and they came back negative for any pathology (that is any pathology that my dermatologist tested for). As far as I know, the angiomas tend to go away once you have successfully eradicated enough of these bugs out of your body (this is from many of the people who I had conversed with that had them as well). I'm not sure about the brown spots, but they should stop over time with successful treatment. If needed, once you start to feel better, and notice that these things aren't spreading anymore, you can have a dermatologist use laser on them to lighten them.
