Does Flagyl have side effects

I started my first dose of Flagyl today and im sort of going crazy. Now, that's not weird because I'm borderline crazy every single day but something put me much deeper into confusion & psychosis today. It could just be the weather or i ate something wrong or my electrolytes are off etc... because those can do the same but since i started flagyl today i figured I'd ask.
I'm also under the understanding that flagyl may make autoimmune conditions worse which has always been a suspicion for my encephalopathy considering how long it's been. Anyone familiar with that?

Can i ask what the feeling is for you guys? Again, im not sure if its the flagyl or not but im teetering way closer to psychosis and deep confusion than i normally am during the course of a day. Mania, irritability and a bunch of other stuff are higher than normal, too

Flagyl can cause some very serious side effects. It made me feel insane and I was only taking it 4 days per month. I also believe it increased my neuropathy. I refuse to touch it again. I started a thread on it 6 or so months ago.

Do some research on it. You may want to ask for an alternative.

Yah, the confusion, psychosis, depersonalization, spaciness have been my baseline since 2013 so im as used to it as someone can get, though you never really get used to it. Those getting worse isn't weird at all but sort of quickly like that mid-day is a little weird so considering tiday was day 1 of flagyl i wondered if it could be connected.

Hoagie- I'll have to give it the next day to see if this persists and in fact is the flagyl but what alternatives are there?

Yah the flagyl def has some things in my brain in overdrive. Im borderline crazier, closer to psychosis, more manic, racing, mildly aggressive (which is weird for me), crying etc.. Kind of revvs up the wrong things and doesn't touch the right things
These are rather minor compared to what i feel daily but they're notable. I'll stick with it though since this is the protocol. Have to be honest though, so far I'm batting zero % at Dr J's, everything they've given me apart from the abx has had an immediate negative effect that they can't explain. Hopefully the abx kick in soon

Flagyl has been quite disastrous. After the first pill my derealization, spaciness, confusion, light sensitivity and fogginess started getting worse, continued getting worse over the next two days of taking the pill and now, a week later it hasn't faded at all. Sucks so bad.
That's one of the hardest parts of this for me-as bad as all the symptoms are, if i misstep in any way or take a wrong med the effects are almost always permanent.

Dr. J's office put me on flagyl over he summer for 2 days a month... every time i took it, i felt awful!! nausea, tired, and just a sick feeling... i stuck with it for 2 months and said i cant take this anymore... so she switched me to tindimax.. im tolerating it better but i still feel blah on it.. i am sucking it up and telling myself that i feel crummy cuz its killing stuff... thats what gets me through it.... so when i take it on the thursday and friday.. im usually back to baseline by tuesday or wednesday

I shared this link in your other thread Aerose91, but this doctor mentions that some patients have extremely strong reactions to flagyl. They mention the strategy they use to work their way around this issue, super small tiny pulse doses. Hopefully the pulse timeframe you are on will allow you to recover baseline before your next doses.

I took flagyl daily for a year at least. It made me feel terrible. It increased anxiety, made me feel dizzy and nauseous and just generally crappy. If I had to go somewhere or just wanted to be up for a dinner with family or whatever I had to skip doses. After two weeks straight I usually had to skip a few doses. It was tough and I never got used to it. Glad that one is in the rear view mirror for me. Did it help? I really don't know. I was on so many other things at the same time. It was definitely the hardest med to be on so far for me.

My wife had to take it for an infection after a surgery recently and she struggled with it as well. She actually just quit taking because it made her feel so bad. She said she now understood why I was always complaining about it. She was only able to take it for a few days.

Been on Flagyl since early summer of '18. Can't tell which of the many symptoms it causes or worsens - there are so many. Tried taking a few drinks - played hell with my stomach. Stopped the Lyme and felt better. Drinking seemed to make everything worse so I quit that too. Now back on Lyme. Most perplexing!!!! Go back to my LLMD in whom I have confidence. Hoping I can own up to the drinking, the stopping and starting of Lyme and get his reaction. Wow!
