Lyme and kidneys

I've read several articles about how Lyme and co affect liver and it enzymes, but not so much kidney.
For detoxification (including kidney), my LLMD recommend PEKANA BIG 3.
It's basically 3 tinctures, one of them is about kidney support.

Burbur and parsley both can help detox your kidneys and they help is several other ways as well (helps liver, dealing with nausea, ect.)

Drink 1 oz of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water.

1-2 x per day

Girlie: did your creatinine still not normalized?

When I’m on my two weeks on - the gfr goes low and the creatinine goes out of range.

Then when I retest on the off med weeks they’re good again.
It happens every cycle - I’ve done 5 cycles and now I’m on a maintenance program taking abx 4 days (one week) per month.

I am going to test in a few days as I’ve just finished the meds and need to find out if it’s the Rifabutin .

I couldn’t tell before because I had also started taking dapsone and daraprim with the Rifabutin - so wasn’t sure which one it was.

Now I’m on Rifabutin but not the D and D

I may have to switch to Rifampin

But even if it is due to endotoxins - isn’t it still damage to my kidneys?

My concern is that at some point it might not bounce back.

I know you can live with gfr in the 50’s with no issue - but I really don’t want to push it to that point.

At this point, I could write a book about the kidneys and Lyme Disease.

My GFR has been in between 50-59 for about 5-6 years, at least. Rather than go into a lot, posts I put up about the concerns can be found in the search area "Lyme kidneys, GFR." The doctors think blood pressure over the years has caused the problem, but I didn't have high blood pressure when the GFR was at 59 about 6 years ago, or had not hand it long.

The nephrologist, who is 81 and seen it all, says not much has changed over that time, except I have some protein in urine now, which only shows up on a 24 hour urine test. Random tests are negative for it. Also "borderline mild" change in kidneys.

This not to put fear or paranoia in anyone, but to stress it is important to see what is going on, what is causing any off numbers and to closely monitor GFR and creatinine , as Girle is doing. For years, doctors just told me it's not uncommon with Lyme Disease. Looking back, I should have had the presence of mind to ask "Why?"

Know cutting back on protein, especially animal protein, is important, which is tough because we already are restricted with Lyme diet. Same with potassium, as also mentioned by Girlie. Same for phosphorus and a number of other items that come with food.

Most people do not find out they have kidney problems or potential ones, until their GFR is below 30. It's good to know earlier, find out the cause and do what needs to be done to be safe with it. This doesn't mean anyone with a low GFR and high creatinine has chronic kidney disease. But it provides the opportunity to find out what is causing it and what can be done.

It's been my experience doctors don't take early indicators as important. The earlier you get answers, the better. Again, not to scare anyone, but to be safe. Jb94 - you are smart to look into it. And water retention can have a number of causes - not just kidneys. Some meds can even cause it. Knowing will help your mind.

The GFR is usually pretty standard, at least in all my comps. Would be very good to know, along with creatinine. Those two are very good tests to let you know a lot, and if one is done, so should the other. There are so many things it could be other than kidneys. But it would be nice to know.

Two caps everyday in the am with tea. REALLY helped my kidneys and adrenals.

Also 4 - 6 caps beet root powder helps a lot as this stimulates nitric oxide production which helps rebuild the kidneys. Combine that with CLA or olive oil for even better results

Everyone thinks milk thistle is for the liver but its great for kidneys too. The milk thistle w/ phosphohlipids from life extension is far and away the best, nothing comes close

1 tsp baking soda in a cup of water each day. Kidneys are working overtime to filter biofilm, ammonia, etc.

I've tried milk thistle and dandelion root for the liver and somehow one of them is making me gain massive weight so I have to stop them. I've read milk thistle mimics estrogen. I don't know how i can be gaining this much weight with so little intake but it has to be a water retention problem which made me think my kidneys are responsible.
