Herxing from Viruses?

For those of you who have treated bacterial illnesses as well as chronic viruses, do you find that you herx as viruses die? Does it operate like a bacterial herx, causing flares of the symptoms of that particular pathogen? Does it vary by virus?

All the posts about EBV lately are making me want to target EBV more aggressively, but I'm not sure I want to risk compounding the herxes I'm already expecting from treating the three Bs.

My EBV was high, I treated with IMN-V-III by Beyond Balance and after two bottles I felt significantly better. I increased the dose slowly. I can't remember I herxed from that at all. After that I switched to A-V by Byron White Formulas, but as I got better I just started focusing on other infections and kind of dropped it, as I can only combine so many tinctures at one time. I started having some weird symptoms again, should probably retest and perhaps even restart antiviral treatment.

No herxing on antivirals for me. Famvir, acyclovir, valtrex, monolaurin, biocidin, etc

I stayed on famvir the longest - close to 6 months. Noticed fatigue was better but that was about it.

Hi saraeli!-

I have been taking viral meds since August 2018. I don't know if it's a herx, die off, flare, or what , but several times now I get a day that it feels like I'm getting the flu with a slight fever.

I just had a day like this last week. I usually get a headache, muscle aches, nauseous, chills, slight fever, just to name a few symptoms.

I have had all of these symptoms with Lyme, but these episodes just feel more flu like to me.

I just asked a similar question. Started treatment yesterday and feel completely out of it today. Is it the EBV or myco or just symptoms? Maybe it's not coincidence when several people have same reaction.

Have had reactions to monolaurin and knotweed in past, so wouldn't be surprised if it can cause a herx type reaction.

Thank you so much for your response. Was Kid#1 on any viral meds or herbs when he had the flu like symptoms every few weeks? Did he ever take any viral meds/ herbs during his lyme treatment?

Very interesting that it was cyclical in nature. Mine is currently very random and I'm still dealing with other symptoms. For example: about 90-95% of the time I still have daily headaches, head pressure, and sore neck that fluctuates. It's rare if I don't have this during the day. My brain feels heavy and like a blob of jello. It feels like my brain is exhausted and drained. Hard to think and concentrate.

It's just weird that since I started viral meds that I get these random days of flu like symptoms.

Hi running wild!-

If I remember correctly, it was on my second day of taking Valacyclovir that I got flu like symptoms.

I actually thought that I was getting the flu because I didn't think it was possible to get flu symptoms when taking a viral med.

Just saw this, Little Bear. Thanks for response. Since starting treatment amid at EBV, symptoms of fatigue, even emotions, have gotten crazy. By late day I can hardly wait to lay down.

I keep reading only negatives about how EBV symptoms can last for months/years. Just not sure if that is based on symptoms or positive on reactivated.

I didn't flare to any of the antivirals I took, but I have heard of some people flaring to things like monolaurin (lauricidin). The question to me is is it actually virus die-off causing flare or is it hitting another non-viral pathogen which is causing die-off (I think monolaurin can hit a bit of a wider range of things beyond viruses, but it's supposed to be good for ebv/herpes' viruses). Probably wouldn't hurt to give something like monolaurin a shot, starting with a very very small dose and seeing how you do.

Agree with seberg concerning monolaurin. Think it hits bacterial and viruses. Starting at small dose is best. Two years ago, I found out the hard way. This time it's slow.
