Can someone please help me interpret this?

IgM
IGX criteria - positive
CDC criteria - negative
31* +
41* +

IgG
IGX - negative
CDC - negative
41* +

Do I have Lyme or not? My doctor had me fill out the symptom questionnaire and I scored a 48 which put me in the high probability category.
She also says many of the symptoms overlap hormone imbalances and wants to treat the hormones first. I definitely don't want to go the bio-identical route.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Was that an Immunoblot test?

(Not a Western Blot)


A WB - bands 31 and 41 is considered Indeterminate and an Epitope test can be done on band 31.


Nonetheless - band 31 is lyme with a few exceptions that are rare.

If you have symptoms consistent with LD with these results - I think you can accept this as a diagnosis .

Why don’t you want the bioidentical hormone therapy?

So it is positive. (Not sure why they consider a WB with same bands IND)

Oh - I thought you were specifically saying you didn't want the 'bioidentical' hormones - but you'd take other ones. (non-bioidentical hormones)

You're questioning doing hormonal treatment instead of Lyme treatment.

I did try the bioidentical hormones - I took the Estrogel and prometrium. (When lyme 'hit' me, my estrogen tanked and my periods stopped....it put me into menopause)
The hormones didn't help. In fact...after taking them, that is when I started getting the horrible symptom of vibrations in my torso area.

Are you seeing a LLMD? or is this your regular Dr. suggesting the hormone treatment?

I would definitely treat lyme.....whether or not you treat the hormones. You do have a positive lyme test.
The hormones may help you...but they aren't going to treat the lyme disease....

Yes , a good LLMD is best for treating lyme.

You can start a new thread: "Looking for LLMD in/near_________" (insert your location)

Then enable your email option (through 'my profile') and members can send you suggestions.

You can also email me....I have a list of LLMD's...and may have one in your location.
It's best to get recommendations from members though.

Yes, many people do. You may want to look for a LLND (lyme literate Naturopathic Dr.)

Hi, Dianna!

Yes, many of us here treat without pharmaceutical antibiotics. Personally, I always say "pharmaceutical antibiotics" instead of just "antibiotics" because I take herbs and other treatments that definitely kill bacteria! A lot of LLMDs practice integrative or functional medicine, and lots of people also find help from naturopaths, herbalists, homeopaths, and practitioners of traditional or classical Chinese medicine. Most people with Lyme symptoms have other stuff going on, too - hormone imbalance in one or more of the major hormone systems, co-infections, chronic viruses, mold toxicity, heavy metals, gut dysbiosis, candida, parasites, food intolerances, mast cell activation issues, etc. - so everyone's treatment trajectory will look different. It may well be that stabilizing some of your hormones will put your body in a better position to handle antimicrobial treatments later on, so you could start with seed cycling, vitex, or other herbs before opting for other hormones.
