1 month post treatment update

Hi everyone,

Just another quick update...I have been doing well following the end of my abx treatment and up to 97% of my old self after treating with abx (Dr. M's protocol) for bart/babs for approximately 10 months. It's been about a month since discontinuing abx and my activity has been increasing with each day with no setbacks and worsening of symptoms!! I am very thrilled and grateful for the progress and hoping to reach more goals with the following month.

I still do have a few nagging minor symptoms left (fatigue, body aches, slight headaches) but they have gone from debilitating to barely noticeable/bothersome. I am no longer terrified to step outside my house and been running errands, driving, exercising (mild, walking), and interacting with people again! I even scheduled a return to work part time in July!

Now my LLMD has me still on quite a bit of supplemental meds to control my MCAS as my latest prostaglandin test showed a continual elevation. But as I continue to improve clinically, she plans to slowly taper me off of those as well. For those who have recovered/gone into remission, are you still on a lot of supportive meds/supplements? Which ones do you feel are essential? I have so many I still take and wondering if I can take off some from the list that may not be so necessary? My finances are definitely waning and want to cut down on things if I can.

-LDN
-ketotifen (for mcas)
-quercetin (for mcas)
-hydrocortisone (adrenal support)
-t3 liothyronine
-serrapeptase/lumbrokinase
-vitamin d
-vitamin c

-metoprolol (for tachycardia/pots)
-magnesium threonate
-clonazepam



Thanks again everyone for your help. For those who are still fighting...you CAN and WILL get better. Keep fighting. Keep battling. Better days will come. This disease IS beatable. The exact way to beat it may be slightly different from one person to another but once you find the right combination of meds/detox/lifestyle changes you WILL get better!

So glad that you are feeling so much better! Please keep us updated as you wean off of the other meds and supplements. Hope it's a very smooth transition!

That's great to hear. What did you take? Just doxycycline, followed by biaxin and rifampin/rifabutin, plus malarone for babesia?

I initially started with the same protocol (biaxin/rifampin) but didn't make much progress with that.

Exactly. Replaced rifampin with rifabutin after I stopped making progress on rifampin.

I herxed badly on Rifabutin after I had treated with Rifampin for over a year (plus I treated Babesia before going on Rifabutin.)

Rifabutin was difficult to tolerate - even tho I was pulsing it.

Much longer half life than Rifampin too - so it builds in your system.

97% is awesome, I'd consider myself fully recovered if I ever got there, and in 10 months wow, congrats
