Itching! NAC?

Could it be the reason or is it just another bart thing? I took my first NAC yesterday and I feel itchy, on my scalp, top of arms, legs.

Could it be a herx or a symptom?

Skin rash and itching are considered common side effects of NAC (in addition to headache and nausea). Be careful because it also can indicate an allergy to NAC.

Hello, I've been away too long but I was doing good, like consider myself healed no more LLMD good. I haven't had very many symptoms of infection, other than parasites, but I had been trying to work on belly fat and tried taking NAC one dose yesterday and one last night.

Unable to sleep with random shifting itchy spots and the familiar ice pick jabby random pains, total herx stuff. ETA: also localized muscle twitches. Anyone have any ideas- lyme spirochete, bartonella? Do I stop the NAC or proceed? It seems like every time something made me herx the llmd would have me pursue it.

i had mild to moderate herx reactions to NAC in the past - its pretty common

you do not say how much you took - but

NAC is a biofilm buster - and so can cause herx reactions that way

its also a glutathione precursor that raises glutathione - which can cause herx for some people

its also directly antimicrobial - esp for Chlamydia Pneumoniae - a common community acquired infection that can be part of the co-infection picture in Lyme patients

RW, it definitely was no coincidence, it seems the NAC made me herx. Garzie, I had taken one 500mg pill for two days in a row when that herx night happened. The ice pick stabby pains remind me of things I've read about Bart. I got bold and took another NAC yesterday, haven't detected anything but I did have some heart palp and a bit of feeling low blood pressure or blood sugar before bed last night. No itch or stabby pains yet. Not sure how far to push things. Thanks for the feedback!
