This is an old thread, but since the topic already existed I didn't want to start it anew. I felt I HAD to share my experience with Ozone this past year (and how much I wish I'd known about it or had a trusted practitioner to do the therapies sooner in my Lyme journey).
Long story short, I had a major relapse about a year and a half ago, including new neuropathy symptoms I'd never had. Most of my original long-term symptoms (over 20 years) revolved around fatigue and MAJOR joint inflammation and pain (knees like cantaloupes, elbows like oranges, etc. for months on end).
Sine the relapse happened after I moved to a new location, I didn't have my usual team around me and I had to find new practitioners. One of the ND's that came up on my radar is an expert in neural therapy, peri-neural therapy (sometimes called neural prolotherapy), and prolozone therapy.
I'm very lucky that he also just charges a normal ND per-visit charge no matter what treatment he ends up recommending per visit, so no matter what combination of treatments I received, the cost was always $250 for an hour of his time.
Anyhow...the neural therapy and peri-neural therapy were HUGE in helping deal with blocks to healing and specific nerve pain (seriously, some 'angry' nerves would be treated and then NEVER hurt again!) But the BIGGEST win for me in finding him was the prolozone. Since we started treatments, I've had 8 ozone injections into each knee...and even though I've gone through some rough periods of herxing this past year with my new treatment plan, my knees NEVER blew up like they used to ALL THE TIME! Also, after being on Cistus Incanus tea for about a month, I could tell some old biofilm communities were becoming exposed to treatment, and some older joint aggravations started to rear their heads. Last week, my right elbow went from 'just fine' to 'completely locked, immobile and swollen' in a matter of two days. I had an appointment with him on the third day of this episode, and he did a prolozone injection into the elbow...warning me (as usual) that with an ozone injection things can get a lot worse before they get better.
Well, it's only 5 days later and the elbow pain and swelling is 80% resolved! This has NEVER been the pattern for me in the past...no matter what my treatment was (triple abx or every Buhner herb under the sun). In the past, if a joint started this pattern of inflammation, I would probably be dealing with it for several months before resolution. I will probably have another round of injections this coming week, and I expect the elbow to be completely resolved probably within the next week or two.
So, this is my experience with prolozone. I hope this proves helpful to anyone. As someone who has had MAJOR joint swelling and pain for many, many years, the specific, focused treatment of ozone (plus procaine and other good things) into the offending joints has been a miracle. I wish I'd known about it sooner. I may have spent less time in a wheelchair or bed/couch ridden over the years!
And reading the above comments, one other note: yes, ozone is 'cheap'. By all means get an ozone generator and do insufflation for yourself. It's of great help systemically. However, you need a trained and practiced ND or MD to be able to properly do these injections, and yes, their time is valuable. It's worth it, and then some, in my opinion.
My best to all!
