LOL, just say "I take herbs" and I'm interested! But, thank you.
I would greatly encourage you to look up "Herbs with Rosalee" - she's a really great herbalist that does free podcasts about
herbs, how to use them, safety of the herb she's talking about
and more, like good recipes.
For Lemon balm, which is a really wonderful and incredibly safe herb to use, here is a link to her podcast (it's her newest that I listened to just yesterday!):
https://www.herbalremediesadvice.org/podcast5.html I usually listen on Spotify, since I'm there listening to music anyway (LOL), but her site is good as well, and you can find her podcasts on a lot of other podcast services as well.
It "might" be that the herbs you mention (licorice and lemon balm) are helping a touch with inflammation for you - or may be a completely different thing it helps with - without talking more to you, it's hard to discover the benefits you are getting. But, I say, if they aren't directly contraindicated with any other medications you need, use them!! They make you feel better!!
Herbs can be a life saver in many ways - for me, they were the only medicine I could tolerate for many years - and so I educated myself on them and their use by enrolling in an online school - but with patience, you can certainly learn a ton through podcasts! Just be sure you trust the person speaking (like Rosalee!) and do some of your own research to back up not only your own knowledge about
what you are using, but making sure that you don't steered in the wrong direction by a misguided, although with good intentions, person.
And, I'll be here off and on and am happy to help anyone learn some about
the herbs they are using/wanting to use.
