NAC Herx?

What symptoms? I seem to get a vestibular migraine (dizziness, head zaps, sometimes pain) whenever I use nac consistently for a week or so.

I've considered it's becasue its moving toxins or metals. Have gotten this sensation from ala as well. I've also considered that its from the sulphur and i'm thiol intolerant. But I actually think the cysteine just may be excitatory. Too much cysteine is an excitoxin, causes a glutamate surge. This makes the most sense since I also get the same sensation from other excitotoxins.

Irritability, back pain, depression, low libido.
I’ll have to look into excitoxin. My LLMD is having me take it because I am low in cysteine.

Nac made me sick but I don’t remember exactly how just like stimulated in wrong way. Didn’t feel like herx. Taking Glutathione and ala was fine though at the time so we didn’t dwell much on it.

its known to be directly antimicrobial for a number of organisms

chlamydia i think and maybe other similar intracellular bacteria like Bart and Mycoplasma
it also raises glutathione production which in itself can cause some people to herx
it also breaks down biofims - so again another possible mechanism

i have always had a moderate herx effect from 1g a day or more - but i can build up gradually over time- i m currently taking 1.5g 2x a day

Yes. I had one of my worst herxes ever after my 2nd dose. Stop until the herx is over. Then restart with one 600 mg dose in the morning. If you can tolerate it daily, just do that for a week or two before adding a 2nd dose in the pm.

It didn’t take me long to acclimate and I had no trouble continuing. It was a doozy after that 2nd dose. I took my first dose before bed and woke up with head pressure and stiff neck. Went ahead and took the next dose that morning and spent the afternoon sitting outside fighting nausea and hysteria thinking there was Stachybotrus (black mold) in the house and we were all going to die. I can laugh now, but it wasn’t funny then.

My doctor had no clue how sensitive and toxic I was, as on paper I didn’t look that sick.

I got back on it and ramped up slowly and got some noticeable relief from brain fog that first two weeks.
