Best antibiotics for bart eye issues? Please help

I'm devastated about my worsening eye issues and I've been very depressive over it the past days. It feels like my worst nightmare is becoming reality. What Buhner wrote in his book about what bart can do to the eyes reads like a horror story and the thought alone of possibly losing my vision, I can't handle it. I tried the herbals, but just one drop made my eyes hurt so much worse. I decided to go back on my antibiotics, but it feels like they aren't effective, especially the doxy which I've been taking again for the past two weeks plus. I'm on doxycycline 100mg 3x1 daily, added in rifampicin a few days ago, 150mg 2x1 daily which I'm supposed to raise to 3x1 and 2x2, as well as oregano oil capsules 3x1 daily. My doctor is not a LLMD, he had me on doxy only for two months at first, then wanted me to switch to some Klinghardt drops. The abx combination is what I searched up myself online, the Ross protocol for bartonella, my doctor only changed the dosages a little. Is it too early to tell if the rifampicin work, maybe? What's the best combo in your experience? I have an appointment with an eye doctor tomorrow and I doubt she knows bartonella, but I'm scared of what she might find. Everything was fine when I last went in May. I'm even considering levofloxacin by now. Please guys, tell me everything you know.

I sense your desperation. I am in the same boat. I too have been told to go to the eye doctor. I don't think they will have a clue about bartonella and what it does to the eyes. I don't know what questions to ask. I would love for someone that has had some success direct me on how they chose their eye doctor. How can you know if they are aware of what impact bart has on the eyes and what to prescribe

My experience with vision issues aka severe damage to right eye. No relief from ophthalmologists prior to severe optic edema event.

IMHO
I would substitute minocycline for the doxycycline. Mino has a better anti inflammatory profile and crosses the blood brain barrier.

Can you be more specific about the type of eye issue? Blurry vision? Sharp stabbing pains? Light sensitivity?

My vision in the right eye was gone - blind.

Prior to blind I had blurry vision, stabbing pain, lots of floaters, light sensitivity.

I was pretty sure I had a tick borne pathogen, it took a long time to figure it out.

I literally begged the doctors to please help me.

I used to get stabbing pain then severe light sensitivity that left me keeping my right eye In particular closed all the time. I discovered magnesium made the pain go away and then,I gut sensitivity. Also anything that improved my gaba/glutamate ratio in favor of gaba (klonopin, magnesium, gaba, l theanine, lemon balm, licorice extract). Too much glutamate can lead to excitotoxicity which can eventually kill your nerves.

I find it slightly odd we both have issues with right eyes. I had assumed it was my right eye giving me more trouble because that’s the eye closer to my window.... I wonder if there’s a biological reason though... like because of circulation or something

My daughters eye problems is also the right eye.
No physical problems can be found with the eye or nerves by regular eye doctor or Neuro opthomologist specialist. It is crazy. So what causes the problems? Is it whatever is happening in the brain? Idk. I agree with you. Vision problems are very scary to me. I’ve been hoping that with more treatment blakeleys would get better.

i think Buhner recommended Stephania for eye issues - can also be used as eye drops i believe - could be worth looking into

I have had similar eye issues with Bartonella and when it first came about it broke every blood vessel around my eyes. Small little blood pops on my skin. No fun. It also swelled up my ankles and broke all the blood vessels there as well.

Bartonella lines the endothelial cells of the blood vessels and restricts blood flow to the eyes, brain, cns or wherever it is located. The immune cytokine response to Bartonella also causes a lot of the symptoms.

I saw a retinal specialist who was very knowledgeable on it but didn’t know how to treat it. My vision has improved as I’ve had more and more success treating. The floaters have not gone away but my vision is sharp and clear now. Still have the light sensativity. I used Mino / Rifampin / Bactrim for two years to make some good progress. I’m now on Dr. MR protocol of Biaxin / Rifabutin / Methylene blue. Dr. MR has told me the MB is working well to clear CNS symtoms and I am hoping my eyes as well. I’m having a lot of eye twitching on it.

I also did 2 months of Pyrazinamide which really had a huge effect on my eyes. They herx like crazy on that to where I was icing them. Bartonella is tough but you have to get aggressive and hit it with multiple drugs from multiple angles.

I've had blurry vision and some eye pressure pain, but nothing as severe as some here. I found that Stephania orally was a big help.

Thank you guys so much, everyone, for all your suggestions and the knowledge you shared with me! And nothing's as helpful as talking to people that actually know what it feels like to go through this. My heart goes out to all of you.
I saw my eye doc today, she couldn't find anything and told me there's currently nothing to worry about. She said the stabbing pain is probably dry eye. I don't know if she knows all the ways bart can mess with your eyes though, I almost took my Buhner book with me to show her lol. It's still a tiny relief at least.
I have stabbing eye pain, burning, floaters (which chlorella really helped with) as well as light sensitivity and blurry vision on and off. There's also some weird purple looking spots in the white of my right eye. My right eye feels much worse than the left. It's weird it seems to preferably hit the right eye, makes me wonder why.

The antihistamines really help me control what I believe is MCAS inflammation inside the eyes.

Here are the over the counter products that have helped me.

Eye drops
MSM opthamalic
Olopatadine - antihistamne, this is now otc. I use when I first wake up

Oral
Lortadine (Claratin) - antihistamine, when I first wake up
Lutein - Puritans Pride brand 40mg 2 or 3 times daily. Proven to repair myelin sheath damage (nerve) in eyes

Later in day as needed
Cimetidine (Tagamet) is an antihistamine
Benadryl

I have come to believe many eye issues are related to MCAS. They seem to follow the abx or herbals I am taking.

I have terrible mcas, and have noticed that sometimes my gastrochrome seems to helps my eyes some
