Hello - I was originally on the forum in 1999 treating for lyme, protozoa & babs. Primary symptom has been chronic UTIs which I'm still dealing with. Treatment has been on/off since 1999 with gaps after having two babies + BFing them. Have been treating for the UTIs with long-term ABX for the last 18 months.

Over the last year I developed muscle pain + stiffness; thought it was ABX side effects but decided to take Beyond Balance herbs I had for years past and see what happened. Had herx from 2 drops of MC-PZ (protozoa treatment). Also tested MC-BAB and had herx from that as well. (after testing - for lyme/protozoa after treatment in 2018).

So I don't know if it never went away or is back. Took Vibrant America test recently and was positive IGM & IGG for a couple of lyme strains. Negative for babs though I think I have it. Test doesn't cover protozoa.

So in addition to the ABX for UTI, I added in:

-Reservatol XL
-Cyrpto Plus
-Continuing the MC-BAB

My dr suggested I stop the MC-PZ, but I'm not sure why. Do the above cover the protozoa? And is the crypto alone enough to treat babs, or should I continue the MC-bab as well?

The MC-PZ + MC-BAB alone eliminated the muscle pain. Now that I've added the lyme herbs about 4 wks ago, I'm having muscle pain + fatigue; is that normal?

I should add that food sensitivities have increased as well (bloating + inflammation in my ears).

Last summer (when the muscle pain started), I also had problems with pills getting stuck in my throat, and one time it got stuck, my breathing was cut off for a short time. Luckily, I started running for help, and I think the impact helped it go down on its own. I went to dr. after that scary experience, and had an endoscopy done. Lots of inflammation in the esophagus. Dr. suspected I could have a condition (I forget what it's called) where they count the cells to diagnose it, but surprisingly I didn't. The inflammation just went down after a short course of heartburn meds. Now I'm wondering if that was perhaps lyme-related.

Hi! You’ve got a lot going on. Sounds like you are referring to eosinophilic esophagitis.

Are you being exposed to mold? Do you have yeast/Candida issues?

It sounds like some of your symptoms could be MCAS as opposed to a specific infection. Mold is a huge cause of MCAS. Intestinal parasites can be, too.

WalkingbyFaith - thanks for the response. I do have Candida. I likely have a protozoa, which is considered a parasite, right?

I've wondered about mold but never tested. House was built brand new 9 years ago. As for mold testing - should one start with testing the house or their body?

I would test the body first - Great Plains or RealTime Labs mycotoxin test.

Are you taking antifungals for the Candida?

Protozoa is a type of parasite. It’s not always babesia, though. Could be something in the intestines.

Thanks. Yes, I'm taking caprylic acid for the candida. Need to reduce my sugar intake too smile but that's challenging.

I am thinking I have both babesia and another parasite/protozoa b/c I responded to herbal blends for each of these separately. My LLMDs have always thought I have babs b/c of my urinary problems, night sweats (historically) and herx to babesia herbs.

I've tested + for protozoa in the past as well, both blood & stool tests. But haven't been tested for them recently.

most of the herbs listed are pretty broad in action individually and are active against many bacteria and protozoans and even fungi at the same time - and even more so when in combinations - so its not necessarily a safe assumption that if you take herbs generally used for protozoan infections and have a reaction - that it means you have a protozoan infection.

in addition, many of these bacterial protozoan and fungal infections also put our bodies in a kind of hyper reactive state - that means we react a lot to any anti-microbial - further confounding the issue.

i wish it were the case as it would make things simpler.

just wanted you to be aware to help with your decision making and avoid going down potential blind alleys.
