Health Update on Stephen Buhner

Since this is a Lyme forum, one could understandably reason that Stephen's articles about things other than Lyme may not be relevant or necessary to read. However, I would encourage folks to consider at least skimming them.

In particular, his article titled chronic lung disease update (7/9/21) discusses his interactions with the U.S. healthcare system as someone who is ill, versus simply having knowledge that the healthcare system has problems. It begins in the fourth paragraph. Stephen's reaction to his (mis)treatment by the U.S. healthcare system will be relatable to most/all of us, regardless of our country.

Indeed, I agree 100%.

When I think about how much mistreatment, fear, and suffering Stephen experienced, my next thought is how much worse it likely would have been, had he not had those decades of prior experience in plant medicine, some notoriety by many grateful people and practitioners whom he helped, and possibly a network of skilled healthcare practitioners in various disciplines to whom he probably had direct access.

My suspicion is most people who get a Pulmonary Fibrosis diagnosis will not have any idea what to do, short of following their doctor's advice (which is better than nothing) and perhaps trying to make sense of the varied and often contradictory information on the Internet. The worse time to try to untangle that mess is after a diagnosis when the clock is ticking. Yet, we also can't go research every disease in advance, in case we might get it.

Stephen has a lot of unique skills and experience on his side. Though, of course, I'd prefer he never had to suffer this disease. I hope he's able to continue his upward trajectory, recover and heal, and establish a new alternative treatment for the many others who suffer chronic lung conditions.

given he has done so much to help other people who are suffering when v few others would - i wish him the very best in terms of recovery.
