As many of you know, I am on a Maintenance protocol - only taking abx 4 days per month.
I often herx (increase of a couple symptoms) while on them. (Back pain - thoracic area and lower left side of neck.)

We went out of town for an nhl game and I was worried because it was the abx week.

But no herx at all. NOTHING

For awhile now I have been thinking that I’m stuck with the back pain FOREVER!

I have been fighting this disease for 7 years now - and on maintenance since 2019.

Now if my short term memory issues would resolve - I’d be ecstatic.

Never give up!!

I've found that when I take certain drugs that stress the Lyme bacteria (particularly loratadine, but also things like valproate) I don't immediately get the classic herx with back pain. Instead the bacteria seem to throw off a bunch of debris which causes a lot of detox symptoms and stresses my adrenals. It's only some time later, when the bacteria actually die, that I get the muscle/joint pain, and it is mostly in my back and shoulders. I'm not sure why this area seems to be the hardest to eliminate the Lyme from, but I have similarly found that is where my herx pain primarily is.

But if you can go several weeks with no herx, I think that would be a good sign?

Forgot to mention - I still don’t have the back pain.

Maybe it’s not coming back?!?!

I’ve never been without the back pain for more than a couple of days.

No back pain?? That's still a dream of mine for one day!!!

I'm still very much of a mind that I celebrate every little bit of progress, even if it only lasts for a little while! If you've made progress, but then take a step or two backwards again, you've still made headway!! Who's to say that you won't keep that bit of progress or that it won't happen again?

I’m putting it to the test today.
Hubby invited a friend over to watch the hockey game - so I’m vacuuming, dusting and baking muffins,
Thankfully I made a large pot of soup yesterday!

Oh my!! Enjoy that activity!! LOL!

I can't help but push myself, even today. LOL. We are remodeling the kitchen - NOT by choice!! LOL! We "discovered" that a refrigerator water line leak from 10 years ago set us up for termites in our kitchen floor - the refrigerator was slowly sinking into the floor!! LOL!

Friday was just too much for me (eyes), so I've spent the weekend sitting around on a heating pad, pampering my back (and my BP! LOL! ), and tried working with some drywall mud today.....back on the heating pad again! LOL! Oh well, a little bit got done!

Here's hoping you don't overdo it, but still enjoy your time!

Great news Girlie,

My brain fog was one of the last sx to see noticeable improvement in the last three years or so after starting heavy abx and herbal combo treatment starting in 2010. Progress is slow and difficult to objectively measure.
You'll know when you get closer... have patience

My husband told me this afternoon that I’ve come a long way (memory/cognition) - he reminded me that my brain was “mush” when I first got sick.

I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to read you’re back out there living your life, you deserve it so much and it gives hope to us all. I don’t know you but every time I do a search on this forum there you are battling and advising people through your own experience. I swear I’ve never seen someone so determined and brave xx

LOL, well it's taking a VERY long time to remodel our kitchen - hubby with 2 back fusions and severe arthritis in the rest of his body, and me with (yet again) a mysterious health issue, we simply work on days where we are both up to it.....which aren't many, honestly!!! LOL! Oh my. My life is a comedy!!!

And I just had a long phone call with the bank - trying to change the mortgage payment date to coincide with our paydays…as well purchasing rrsp’s before tax deadline.
No anxiety or increase of any symptoms… and that “stuff” would usually have caused my body to start vibrating and my brain get fogged up.

Such great news, Girlie!!! I wish I could get my nervous system to calm back down again!! My sympathetic nervous system is kind of stuck in the 'on' position, from what I can tell from my own research, and that's what's driving my BP issues. That kind of a day would have had me reaching for my rescue meds for sure!

So I’m having some mild back pain now.

Will see if it stays mild or worsen in the next couple of weeks.

Next cycle starts on the 20th.
