But the difference is some llmds only treat with one or two abx and for a shorter amount of time.

True is some respect. However, doctors do use different med combos. Some are better at aiming treatment based on symptoms than others. These doctors don't all use the same strategies. For example, I think the pulsing method works better for me than the daily dosing. My first doctor used daily dosing and I gave up on treatment before he wanted to stop. I had some success, but the pounding day after day, week after week, month after month took it's toll on me. I was depressed. The pulsing strategy has seemed to help me stick with treatment and give my body a chance to recover before the next hurricane.

I think it's similar to a craftsman. They can use the same tools but the outcomes of their works can vary greatly due to experience and talent.

I took Alinia (under Dr J) for several months - part of the Bart/Persisters protocol.

Ah that makes sense Lymie24!

For me Alinia helped a lot with parasites (I had cryptosporidium found on a stool test) but I don't think that's the only thing it helped with. It's pretty broad spectrum and also attacks Lyme cysts. I did not know what Girlie said about Bart/Persisters but that would make sense too as it hits a lot of things.

i've not come across its use for bart either - but i have heard Dr SP believes it has some direct activity for borrelia - which he said is based on some unpublished work by Alan McDonald i think

i have some here - and will consider trying it at some stage

I have used them all, mino, doxy, ceftin, bactrim, rifampin, rifabutin, clarithro, Azithro, Mepron, Pyrazinamide and finally Methylene Blue. I believe my last remaining infection is Bartonella. I tried using Dr. M protocal of Clarithro, Rifabutin plus MB. It almost killed me and was way, way, way too strong. I felt awesome for the first 8 days and then bam. It crushed me. I was bed ridden for a week.

What I have subsequently discovered is that the MB hits Bartonella extremely hard. I am currently on minocycline, rifampin, bactrim, mepron and MB. I have taken 6 months to titrate up to the half dose of MB - 25mg twice a day. I am now upping my dose to 50mg in the morning and 25mg at night every other day. It hits me very hard. What i have also found is that when I take the rifampin with the MB at the same time (empty stomach) it hits even harder. I am using liposomal MB that seems to get very deep into my system.

Forgot to mention that with Alinia the dose really matters for me.

I noticed all the benefits at 500 mg 2 times a day.

When I dropped it to 500 mg 1 time a day it seems to not really do much.

Your mileage might vary though.
