My Lyme treatment in Scottsdale Az.

I am in my 5th week of treatment for my lyme disease now. This week was tough. They upped all of my meds and it is not easy. But I am happy to have a great and caring staff around me that knows what I am going through. And one that jumps to attention the minute that I feel bad.
I am not up for much else after 2 hours of IV treatment. But at least my mind is clear now, and I can think for a change.
I am saddened that this treatment is not available around the country. I don't understand why it is not. I don't understand why every one is not able to get this in their own towns.
It is no where near as expensive as what my LLMD wanted to charge me for abx everyday.
I have my 5 year old with me and I am going to get my Lilly treated as well.

Man I do not know. I sneaked off of my treatment and went to see my kids. I wanted them to see me well for a change. It has all been so weird. My dog died, toto, I fired my maid of 5 years, and on and on. It is like I am finally out of a coma...a dumb one...lol
I feel fine, I mean I do not have any of my stupid lyme problems now. But I do feel weak. My skin feels gross, oily, and my stomach was really in a up roar today....I had my head in the trash can...lol
But they gave me a shot on my butt for that. So it went away. I also started to run a fever today. I am not complaining really. I guess I am herxing...just feel like crap.
If nausea, fatigue, and feeling like poop are herxing..than that is it. My teeth were also chattering and I was really freezing all day today. Even with blankets and huge sweaters....I am never cold.
But if this is all herxing is...then it is not as bad as my full blown lyme. I am getting myself up every morning and getting myself there in my rent a car. I am not getting lost and am doing a good job.
I even have my 5 year old with me now. Luckily she was in play school here at the hotel at the 4 seasons today. I was not so happy momma today. I am very happy to have three days off now. My whole right side of my body is sore. And It is hard to shower and wash hair with out getting the port infected. They leave the tubes on me all week. So I look a little scary with my swing set on my chest. lol
Found our something really odd today. I found out by asking questions that the majority of the people being treated for cancer here all tested positive for lyme too. I am hearing this way too many time on line from people now.

no kidding...I loved it that no longer how long I layed in bed...he would always be there with me. We both hated being outside. I miss him. But he was hurting and getting so lame. I just couldn't put him down. I didn't want anyone to put me down.
I have a darling french bull dog that I got for my daughters for their birthday...and gosh...he is a doll. Popeye. He snores and funny...he thinks that he is a retriever.
Hey Dowa, when did your dog get it? Did you get it at the same time? How did you find out he had it? And what did you notice changed about him, or her?
name? How long did he live? And what was said to you at his Dr.s apps?
Like how were his teeth? My bet told me the other day that toto had the teeth of a really old dog. Said it was uncanny.

My Golden Retreiver was lame for many years and treated for arthritis, very common in goldens. Then one Spring after the annual vet appt. I got a call from the vet that he tested positive for Lyme. We treated him with antibiotics (I do not remember for how long but I am guessing a few weeks) and the next year he tested negative. Then the Spring after that, positive again, you know the story...he went back and forth for about 6 years at least and died Xmas eve and would have been 13 in Feb so he did pretty well. His teeth were ROTTING so yes, that must definately be a Lyme thing. He became unable to breath and died of heart failure after taking lasix for many months that made him pee constantly but helped with the breathing. I actually got myself tested after telling a lady in Boston that my dog had Lyme and she said you better get tested too. So...he also had a heart murmur when he was still well, and I have had that too, along with the teeth problems. You said Toto had bad teeth, do you have problems with your teeth also. With great care to my teeth, I am getting cavities and gum disease, I am blaming the bacteria I guess...I posted a question awhile back asking here if anyone was having dental issues.   D

What was his name? okay, just had another good cry about toto...lol. He just turned 6 on Holloween.
wow..okay, so rotting gums and teeth. When toto had his blood work done again about 5 weeks ago, I had a long conversation with the vet about toto. And he was telling me that his teeth were terrible. It made no sense. I mean, I spend a small fortune grooming my dogs and their vet bills. gezz. And he never had junk food in his life. And he did not drink...much...:>)
But I have noticed in my mouth that my gums are like almost going away. I have spent so much in dental and have perfect teeth. But they seem to be loose or something. Like the root is not firm or steady.
I am more careful now with what I eat. For I feel as if my teeth are planted in loose soil. Mu gums have receded so much. It is odd. But when the vet made the comment about toto it seemed uncanny.
I am going to have my other dogs tested. Toto had two female campions and I worry that since they cared for him non stop that they two could have gotten it from him. They babied him like a king. Cleaning his eyes and ears. Dorothy had sex with him, they were both fixed. But both females are not well without him.
Not even sure that I should keep a infected dog around the house now. Since they do pee inside sometimes and it can be spread by contact with urine. A bit much no?

all ticks can carry the lyme. anything that bites an infected host will in turn get infected.

But everyone that is here got infected here in AZ.
I was sort of freaked out when I got here to the 4 seaons. There are birds, rabbits and animals running all over the place. Deer, pigs, bob cats and on and on. Wild horses...etc.
Coyotees. It is tick heaven.
Lots of ticks on a animal is a bad sign in any state. The stats are that 50% of the ticks are infected. So....and most of those carry more than one disease.
I am afraid that everyone is at a risk now unless they live in a rubber room.
It is a big problem in the whole world. What we need to focus on is treatment and prevention.
Go out and buy yourself some books at Barnes and try to get through them. They all say about the same thing. It is a big problem that needs to be addressed immediately.
Gosh I remember those big juicy ticks...yuke...during my childhood. 38 years ago. It is different now. I grew up on a ranch with 400 horses. It has gotten out of control now.

I will ask them. I am sure that it is all related to the lyme. Since it ruins everything else too. It is so weird, everywhere I go I am meeting mothers who's children have Lyme....here in the desert.
And lucky them they are right here and did not even know about Envita. One mom has been fighting lyme for her daughter for 5 years. And of course her daughter has done all of the abx and did not get better.
She was excited to know about the place I was going here. She had been taking her child all the way to California.
I feel so much better today. And man it was nice to have a day off from treatment! I of course over did it and looked at over 150,000 sq. feet of furniture. I am doing a huge ranch in colorado as a favor.
Normally this would not have even been possible much less an option.
I think the lyme makes your body 100 over night....lol...I would be careful with your teeth. I am going to talk to my Dr. in Florida about maybe having my gums fixed...don't know.....honestly. gosh.
I don't imagine that anything can be done to reverse it. But that careful attention should be paid.
I guess if I do not get better with this treatment...dentures will be no big of a deal at the old folks home i will be rooming at...lol
If this threatment makes me feel normal, then maybe I will keep my port and just get hits twice a week...for the rest of my life...lol
will see....it is all sort of scary. I am excited that it is working and that I can see and think and feel normal, yet I am scared as well and worry that the minute that my therapy is finished that my stuff will all come back.
I am a very positive person, yet this disease has hardened me.
But at least what I am on is all natural and good for me. Not like abx that could make me so immune to abx when I need them to save my life.
The teeth never came up and really forgot about it.
Love the names..Tosh and Dylan! So cool. I always let my kids name the dogs, after about 4 days of knowing them. My daughter Charlotte is so creative about it. Hence the names Toto and Dorothy...lol.
It is so sad that the lyme takes our best friends. I know people who have put their horses down from Lyme too. Awful.

I had to respond because lyme has affected my teeth also. In fact, I lost several teeth from it in 2003 and am now just having implants done and am very concerned about what it will do to my system. I am the grand-daughter of a dentist and have always taken care of my teeth religiously yet they have definitely been affected by this disease. Yes, the gums and some feel loose. Also my teeth have hurt at times. I remember a woman I worked with in 2000 who was positive for Lyme told me that the first thing she noticed was that her teeth really hurt. It is strange how so many things go full circle with this disease and how the stories are so similar.

As for my darling Norwich Terriers - they have both been bitten by ticks - both dog and deer - and their teeth are in terrible shape. I had them cleaned when they were a little under two years old. Then I had them cleaned a month ago again (1 year later). The boy had to have 4 teeth extracted and the little girl has a lot of loose teeth. They aren't even 3 years old! I now brush their teeth at least every other day in hopes that it will help. They were both given several weeks of Clindimycin for their teeth and the change was dramatic for the boy and even the girl. The little girl also tested positive for lyme last year and that vet did not want to treat her. (I mentioned to you Dowa that the vet said it wasn't high enough to treat - how the heck is that possible??) Anyway, I have been pretty sick myself so I keep putting it off - but I am going to insist that she be treated. They are being seen by a different vet now so I will have him run his own tests. So many people and soooo many pets in this area have had and are getting Lyme. It is unreal. It is almost as if you need to get them check for lyme every three months or so. Sometimes I think they display symtoms and sometimes not. Certainly gum and tooth disease can make anyone feel bad but I get a feeling at times it is more than that....that they have an infection and it is going to get worse. I apologize for going on and on about them - they have kept me going when I wanted to give up because I was so sick.

Marie - I feel so for you. I can tell you have been through so much with your health, your children's and your beloved animals.

Bcaring: I also wanted to say that when I was seeing a holistic dentist in Boston that they did NOT do implants as they believed that they also could cause toxins like root canals are believed to. They were going to do a bridge for me (all porcelain) as the implants do contain metal. See if it is possible to do a bridge in your case, I think it would be safer.  D

Oh wow you guys. I am like so so slow sometimes. I had had some big problems with my teeth about 4 years ago. My jaw was killing me and my teeth had just started to look and feel terrible. I found this dentist in Fortlaunderdale and I he said that I had so many problems in my mouth that he re-did my whole mouth.
This was the most exspensive and painful ordeal I have even been through. It took over a year and involved some surgeries.
But I never thought it was the lyme, just my age..well...43 at the time.
Man, well he told me that I would take them to my grave. But my gums which were terrible when I saw him, hence the reason he did my whole mouth. Are now going back like the tide. I don't care so much how they look, they look fine. But they are loose. No gummie bears for me...lol
My 3 year old papyon has had many teeth removed, and guess what, her back hips are giving up on her. She has gotten so fat, cause walking and jumping hurt.
I guess my dog toto gave it to all of my other dogs as well.
Toto got 60 of doxy, but a year after the fact. And it did nothing to improve him. Well I now understand why deer are so stupid..lol..deer in the head lights. geez if I was infected over and over with lyme I would walk in traffic too.

 Marie and Beth:I had posted awhile back here asking about dental problems and did not get much of a response so apparently not everyone has problems . Do you think the bacteria in our systems is what is causing the teeth and gums to suffer? As you Beth, I took great care of my teeth only to have them fall apart when all of this started. I had two pulled due to absess and did not do the root canals. I have the porcelain bridge waiting for me in Boston if I ever get back there..If you read Lyme symptoms you never see dental problems listed. What do you think causes them? I eat a great, all organic diet..And yes you are SO right about how expensive it is, especially if you go holistic. D

Lyme and cancer? That's news to me. But you know what, there IS an unfortunate link between heavy antibiotic use and cancer.

That sucks doesn't it? Our only known treatment can ultimately lead to bad things.

I have met many on this site that have both. it is freaky to say the least. did you read the cure unknown? it makes mention of this fact and also about how all of those people who died of altzmers who had lyme in the brain tissue as well. it is frightening really.
