My lyme test came back 41+ and 39ind about 1 1/2 years ago. my doc has been treating as if i have lyme but I would still get sicker in some respects but better in others. Now I'm pretty sure what's kicking my but is bart. but don't have a + test. my doc sent me to Dr. B in kansas city and he tested me for the top two bart strands and both came back neg for antibodies.

I'm not sold on this. He also checked my cd57 using Quest (if this makes a difference) and it came back a whopping 13.

I DON'T think i have every failed a test so bad in my life.

Anyway, with this extremely low cd57 and no +bart test I worry that the doctors will blame all on lyme. This bart (I believe) is in my spine bone and messing with my white blood cells among other things. I am under the understanding your bone marrow makes white blood cells. Doesn't cd57 measure something with your white blood cells. Couldn't my number be so low because of the bart messing with me not just the lyme?

oh yeah, I just wanted to add that Dr. B. sent me a letter stating that because the bart tests and bab test came back normal and I had a low cd57 My illness all came down to an active lyme infection. I thought this man was supposed to be pretty smart but this just made me think otherwise. He knew my background of treatment. 1 1/2 years and not better. worse for some symptoms. I think this was very irresponsible of him to state it all came down to lyme. My other doc that sent me to him did say he did not agree that that is my only problem but he's not into testing for things. He just treats by trial and error.

There are a lot of different strains of Bart, so to only test for 2 and then rule out Bart based on negative results seems irresponsible. That said, most of the experts seem to think the CD57 only is suppressed in lyme, not the coinfections (anybody know of any research supporting this assertion?).

VEGF is a test that is often elevated in those with Bart., so that may be another test to try to get done.

My cd57 was "3"... can't remember which lab... but, a 3?????? a lousy 3??????
