How long can I expect to wait for test results?

The test my Dr ordered two weeks ago, still hasn't come back. How long does it typically take to have results from the first test?

Just kidding. I would assume they would have them back within 10 to 14 business days if you had the Igenex LD tests/panels done. The waiting is horrible, I know.

Please update us when your results come in. It shouldn't be too much longer.

It also depends on your doctor.  Dr. R in Kansas City is refusing to send me the test results from almost 3 months ago saying she wants to wait until our phone consult on December 23.  If she doesn't send them soon there will be no phone consult.  I want to look them over and have my neurologist and PCP see them, so I can ask some intelligent questions before I talk to Dr. R.  Thumbs down on this LLMD!

That's unbeleiveable Hiker53! Lyme is serious, what's the hold up? It's too bad that we have to take everything in our own hands. Dealing with lyme is enough, there shouldn't be the battle with the health care system. Everything I've read says to keep stress levels down, how can we do that?

Dr. R claims its her policy not to send lab results until after the consult.  I wrote a letter, threatened a lawyer, talked to the people in charge of her clinic who promised 2 weeks ago to send the results.  They have not come.  Have called 3 times since Friday and politely asked for a call back and have gotten nowhere.  I will call everyday until they come and if they don't come before the scheduled phone consult, I will cancel the consult.  I am very visual and need to see the tests in front of me, plus I have a biology and health degree, so I am not stupid about interpreting them. 

I know I have lyme as I already have positives from Bowen and Igenex, but she ran a gadzillion other tests that I would like to know the results of and have several other doctors look at before I talk to her (if I decide to keep the consult).  I want my other docs to see them so I can get a note to get some time off work, but I need to do that before the new teaching semester starts, so a suitable sub can be hired and work with me for a few weeks after Christmas before totally taking over my classes.

One poor lady who was at the clinic when I was there and said she had been waiting 8 weeks for her results and was told by Dr. R she would call earlier if she had lyme.  She did, indeed, have lyme and came out of the appointment mad and devastated.

My other LLMD was not like that at all.  Wish I had never heard of Dr. R.

The test typically take two weeks in my experience. If the test was done through IgeneX you could call and see if they are completed yet. The staff is very friendly. When I called the tests were done but the results had not been sent to my doctor. They immediately faxed my doctor's office and the doctor called me the next day to give me the results.

I would call the lab and request results, they usually give it to you after a reasonable amount of time, the reason doctors dont give results over the phone is because they dont want you to cancel the consult, I know its torture, I probably would have called the lab and pretended to be the doctors office and give them my fax number, I know this is wrong but the turture of waiting for results is ...........

I am just in the beginning stages of testing. I convinced a walk-in clinic Dr to send me for the first screening test (I'm in Canada where Lyme doesn't exist according to Dr's)I believe it would be the ELISA? It has to go to a provincial lab.At the lab where my blood was taken, they told me it will take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. I had to give a second sample after 10 days. It will be 3 weeks on Friday since my first test. My GP laughed at me when I mentioned Lyme. I told him to look at my symptoms and picture of or my rash, he refused to look at my symptoms and the bulls eye rash could be from a # of things. I'd been to him over the last 2 years for various symptoms that now point to Lyme. I told him that I'm open to other ideas, he thinks I'm depressed and stressed! I don't think depression can cause your glands to swell and stay swollen for months! I'm extemely frustrated. I found a LLMD about an hour away, but my Dr won't refer me until I have a positive test. If my test comes back negative, I guess I'll have to go to a walk in clinic and get a referal. There's nothing else that fits all my symptoms.
