I have been in pain for over 8 years. During this time period I was given Vicodin (for 30 days only) which did not touch the pain. I think I may have had an additional 30 day pain script during this time.
Last October when I had the gallbladder pain and surgery, I was given percodone and/or oxycodone.... it took care of the gb pain for a little while, but other than that it made me sick and dizzy and did nothing for the LD pain.
Pretty regularly from last November to last month my LLDr prescribed Darvocet, which worked a little bit, but was the best pain med so far.
I finally saw a pain management doctor a month ago. I am now on Lyrica and Skelexan. These have helped with the Fibromyalgia type pain. What a relief. She has increased my Lyrica amount to try and help my bone/joint/arthritis pain. This has helped at times. But other times I feel kind of over-medicated. Some times it just knocks me out and I sleep for 3-4 hours in the middle of the day. My body isn't used to this type of medication and I'm going to give it a while to adjust. I have actually gotten out of the house 3 times in the past month or so... which is AMAZING for me. I went out on Thanksgiving and have been out and about in the city, window shopping.... having a chili-cheese dog (and not doubling over).
The pain meds work when I take them... but when I wake up in the morning the LD is there. I want my disease gone, I don't want to take pills to numb my body. I am grateful for finally having some pain relif, but even more aware that my disease is still there.... waiting.
