Worried about controversial treatment with pos. lethal side effects.

So were still pretty new to both the forums and to Lyme. My fiance' Sarah was just diagnosed this month after a fybro misdiagnosis 8 years ago. We are going to the only LLMD here in Oregon Dr. R. She wants to do a bunch of things but one of the major once that she wants her to go in and start tomorrow was to administer Hydrogen Peroxide through IV once a week. We did a search on this and there was a special on 60 minutes about it and a "doctor" who due to the treatment has been charged with homicide. So we are both kind of spinning now not knowing what to think...

It does mention Lyme as the "diagnosis" during in the whole fiasco.

Has anyone had this done? And is it affective? Or should we start running to the exits? Need some feedback desperately.

This is what Dr. R wants Sarah to start with more to come later down the road...
250mg Cefuroxime 2x a day
Acidophilus 3 times a week
Oral and topical Magnesium
Vitamin D 2000mg daily
H2PLX 2 times a day

Hi Jon.  I am sorry your fiance' has been sick for so long.

Has she been tested for the co-infections ticks can transmit--Babesiosis, both types of Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma?  This is very important.  Many people who have Lyme are co-infected, and it may affect treatment choice and progress.  Many Lyme doctors believe co-infections need to be treated first.

I am not familiar with hydrogen peroxide treatment.  Why is it supposed to be effective?  Have you spoken to other people who have Lyme who have done it?  I higly recommend researching this thoroughly before starting it.

Acidophilus is very important, and it should be taken in proper doses on a daily basis. What strength is the one she whats Sarah to take?  I do not think taking it three times a week is enough.

I do not believe that 500 mg of Cefuroxime daily is in the treatment range for Lyme.  I believe the typical dose is 2000 mg daily.  If you have not done so, I recommend reading Dr. Joseph Burrascano's 2005 Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines For Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses at http://www.ilads.org/burrascano_0905.html  He is one of the top Lyme doctors in the country, and many Lyme doctors follow his protocols.  He discusses meds and dosages starting on page 17.

You may want to consider getting another opinion.  Have you been in contact with any support groups?  I found the following Lyme support groups listed for OR:

These may be good sources for information and doctor referrals.  It is very important to learn as much as possible.  I also recommend the books "Everything You Need To Know about Lyme Disease Second Edition" by Karen Vanderhoof-Forschner and "The Lyme Disease Solution" by Kenneth B. Singleton MD.

There are other, safer treatments that have helped others. The peroxide I.V sounds like a last ditch treatment that you should only consider as a last resort, not as your first line treatment.

As all the treatments are very expensive I would go with what is proven to be the safest and most effective. I by passed this method a month ago. Although I do not like the ABX, I can tolerate it, it is cheap, it works better than anything else I have tried (including very expensive herbs) and the majority of doctors, themselves infected with lyme, use this form of treatment.

hey guys!
I have been getting peroxide...since. Gosh let me see. Early Oct. I get it after my Ozone blood work. They give me about pint of it 4 times a week. I told you all this before..It smells like pickeled corn!
I get it put through my surgicaly placed port all the time. Along with the MSP.
The only side effect is that I smell funny afterwards. ha. One women told me I smelled like fruit punch. I said thank you!

But the perioxed is a big part of my treatment. I call it the easy days though. The EDTA is the one that makes my days 6 hours days. But that is because I get the Ozone treatment too.

All I can tell you is that after 4 days of the ozone treatment with the perioxide and the MSP, most of my symptoms that has floored me for years...were gone.

So, from my stand point and my personal opinion, this is working for me big time.
But once a week..is not enough.
But again. I have heavy medical attention and a big staff of nurse to baby sit me while I am getting it put in me.

And people's insurance are paying for it...some 60% others 100%
