Hi hope_29!
don`t worry about starting this as a new thread; maybe alfers can somehow switch this when she reads it.
I understand that you are in a bad condition! I do not know if your Lyme doc does testing for co - infections automatically, I only know that where I live some do it and some need kind of "push" to do so but this has to do with our health system and health insurance. Means: some docs have more "money" to spent when they have patients that do not "cost" so much so they do more for you - that sounds brutal, I know, but it is like that. So this was just a suggestion to maybe get more information about your situation till you see the new doc in March; but maybe that is all not realistic - so just forget about it, I did not want to cause you additional stess!! You can ask the new doc if he tests for co infections automatically and talk with him.
I have no Lyme co - infections, I have tested positive to West Nil virus which causes some similar symptoms like Lyme does.
Should you together with your new doc decide to try abx you might also be able to handle herxing with a good detox method; I have heard form some here that their herxing was not that bad although they were in bad shape when starting treatment.
And there are success stories too; I met a woman my age here in the local lyme group, she told me how bad she was, scary story; it took her years to find out it was lyme, being in a psychiatric clinic too in the meanwhile; she was on doxy only (because of allergies to other abx) for 9 months staight; and she is syptom free since two and a half years now, no relaps happened.
So let us all dry your tears and hug you! dorit
