Seems to be a lot of info out there that Lyme hates oxygen and a hyperbaric chamber oxydizes you and thus helps kills lyme. Treatment is expensive. As high as $200 for each of the 40 recommended treatments needed over 8 weeks if you have Lyme. But the machines can be bought or rented. I found one machine that is $2000 to rent per month and $12,900 to buy. I am wondering if anyone has tried hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and if it works, is it worth a Lymie in each area to rent one and others chip in to use it? Just a random thought if it does actually help....

I have done the hyperbaric treatment and have talked with many others that have done it as well. It seems to be similar to the other treatments where some swear it helped them alot and others noticed nothing at all. I am one that noticed nothing different about
the way I felt after spending almost $5,000. I would suggest trying it first before renting a unit as some people (me) have trouble with the pressure and their ears. It was suggested here that I have tubes put in my ears to regulate the pressure and I had no desire to do that. Its not for everyone, just like all the other methods that are talked about
here. Its all so individual. I know people that have done as many as 80 treatments. If you try it, I would like to know what your thoughts are about
it and if you noticed improvement. D

I have also heard that some people were helped by it, some were not. It is very expensive. From what I understand, if you have Babesiosis you should not do HBO.

Dowa, I believe it can make Babesiosis worse. I am not sure if it is because of its affect on red blood cells or what.

Babesiosis can make HBO less effective. If you're RBC, hemoglobin, and hemocrit levels are all pretty far below normal then hyperbaric therapy may not be able to transport enough O2 to the borrelia to be as effective.

I haven't tried it but I read that it works best on children for unknown reasons.

i've tried it once, it killed my ears and they hurt for days after that. I can't take the pressure.
