Question about abx. combinations for bartonella....

My doctor just put me on Biaxin/Bactrim for Bart. I had been on Rifampin in the past. I think he is trying to target both Lyme and Bart. I am no longer on the Rocephin. He said he really wants to go after the Bart since I am still not too well. I am not looking forward to the metal taste since I have been on Biaxin before but gotta do whatever I need to...

The last time I was on Biaxin it was for two weeks because I couldn't tolerate the metal taste. My doctor put me on Ketek instead. Now alot of the docs are afraid to use Ketek because of the liver concerns so that won't be an option for me this time. I will just have to eat mints all day long! Hope your bicillin injections help you..

nefferdun-I think it helped me too with the Lyme. At the time I hadn't been tested for co-infections so didn't know I was dealing with Bart also. It wasn't until 7 months later I was positive for Bart and started on Levaquin. I think my doc wants to try a different combo since I have already had rifampin also.

Took my first pills last night and within an hour I had the metal taste UGH. Does anyone have any ideas on how to minimize this. I am not sure I can stand months of this. I think I read somewhere if you take it with grapefruit juice it helps.

I would actually go back on Ketek but my doc won't let me. My liver enzymes were high the whole time I was on it. I had no problems at all except that it brought on a sore throat that lasted for months...

I found something online about Schaller's book and am sharing it. This is information the person online was sharing after having read his book.
These treatments do NOT work:
any penicillin, doxy, minocycline, IV rocephin, ceftin, omnicef, levaquin, cepro, and Rife machine.

It is believed that BLO organisms create a biofilm to protect themselves which is described as being like plastic wrap. One abx will remove the biofilm while the other attacks the organism, so a combination treatment is necessary with BLO.

The most effective is Biaxin and Zithromax at 1250mg with augmentin XR (don't know what that is)

He recommends HH (Houttaynia) for BLO but does not give a dosage amount
He also recommends clove bud essential oil, also at a high dosage but does not give the amount.
It should be 75% with olive, coconut or grape seed oil.

Yep, that is the drift I got from my conversation with him which was a couple of minutes, as well as the emails. He would not tell me what would work. He only told me what doesn't, which is just about everything any doctor not associated with him is giving you.
You can talk to him yourself . I'll find his web site and post back. Ask him about Biaxin in particular, as the person online who read his book stated he recommended that along with zithromax.
There was some helpful information in his emails which were articles and advertisements - like picture of the bart rashes. In the articles, he said all lyme treatment should include something to attack the cyst as well as the spirrochete form which should be given at the same time; addressing the cyst form should not be something to address "at a later time".
It would be great if other people talked to him as the first 5 minutes is free and he will then email you all the information that I received. You might have a completely different perspective.
I just get really ticked off at the people dangling "the cure" in front of the faces of desperate people who pay thousands of dollars trying to get well and seldom do. I have sure paid my share.
So, the bart book is $125. He also expects you to buy the babesia book and then you can arrange a telephone call with him, which is strictly for information and not as your doctor treating you, which will be $575 for half an hour. Meanwhile, you and everyone else on this site will share the real information about what is helping each of us to recover (I am sure a lot of his "research" is done reading our stories) and all of this is for nothing, because you sincerely care about a total strangers suffering.

I'm confused. These two sentences seem to contradict each other. Or maybe I'm just not reading it right.

The first paragraph says "HE SAID ZITHRO AND BIAXIN DO NOT WORK EITHER."
And the 2nd to last paragraph says "The most effective is Biaxin and Zithromax at 1250mg with augmentin XR (don't know what that is)"
