Can anyone tell me of a good Endo Dr. here in Florida.  Tampa/Orlando area?  I know my chances are nill finding a LL Endo...so maybe just a good Endo will work!

Are you looking for an endo doc as in endometriosis? If so, I suggest you go to an organization like the Endometriosis Research Organization and ask in one of their forums.

Believe it or not, there is an endo doc on the west coast that believes in a strong connection between Lyme Disease and endometriosis.

Hi 1bitten2xshy.  As I have posted before, I have had many bad experiences with endocrinologists for thyroid treatment.  For me, seeing an endo for my thyroid disorder was the equivalent of seeing a typical infectious disease doctor for Lyme.  Many endos that I saw treated solely by what the TSH result was. For years, I had obvious hypothyroid symptoms, but because my TSH was in the "normal" range I was told nothing was wrong.  Finally, my thyroid antibodies were tested and they were extreme which showed Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.

This does not mean that you will have the same experience.  What helped me most was to call a compounding pharmacy in my area to see if they could recommend a doctor knowledgeable about thyroid disorders.  Doctors sometimes use these pharmacies for individualized thyroid meds.  This call resulted in me finding the best thyroid doctor I have ever had, and he is not an endo.  This doctor has helped me more in a few months than all the other doctors combined that I have seen over several years!  I wish I would have done this years ago.

For two years, my mom was having the same issues as I was.  I suggested to her to try what I tried (she lives in a different state).  A couple of months ago she saw a doctor recommended by a compounding pharmacy in her area and she feels the best she has felt in two years!

It may be worth trying.  I hope you can find a good doctor soon.

Hey Ticker-

My antibodies have been over 300 since 12/07, of course as you stated my TSH is "normal" and while so is my Free T3 and Free T4, they are both very low normal..not mid range like that should be from what I have read.

I have read that anitbodies are indeed Hashi's.

I TRULY feel after treating my Lyme for 2 years now, the remaining problems are die to my Thyroid.

I am not sure how to go about finding a compounding pharmacy and what to even ask them.

Hints on what I should ask?

Hi 1bitten2xshy.  My antibodies were over 1000.  From what I understand, many (not all) people with thyroid disorders feel their best when the Free Ts are in the upper 1/3 of the range.  This has been true for me. 

Hashimoto's is an autoimmune thyroid disorder where the body is attacking the thyroid. It is my understanding when Hashimoto's is present, treatment is warranted even when other levels are normal.  Normal may not be optimal and there is a lot of room to work even within the ranges. 

To find a compounding pharmacy in your area, do a Google search.  I searched for "compounding pharmacies in Tampa," and names came up.  When you call them, ask to speak to the pharmacist and ask if he/she knows a doctor in the area who is knowledgeable about thyroid disorders.  You can tell them that you have Hashimoto's but cannot get treated and that you feel you would benefit from treatment.
